Fun things you can do with it:



Spawn the seats from the vehicle menu.

To add your own seats see the weapon_seats.lua in the autorun folder.



To press buttons hold alt while pressing use to press buttons.

Changes from 1 to 1.1:
  • Fixed css weapons not having an animation and crazy recoil in singleplayer.
  • I also added the tag "weaponseats" so you can easily find servers with the addon.

Changes from 1.1 to 1.5:
  • Improved aim by 200%
  • Seat positions lowered

Changes from 1.5 to 1.6:
  • Aiming is now 100% accurate!

Changes from 1.6 to 1.7:
  • Made it so you can use buttons while seated.
  • Support for reversed mouse players in singleplayer while you're seated.

Changes from 1.7 to 2.0:
  • Behaves like real pods/vehicles. (this means they work with pod controllers and whatnot)
  • Changed the get out key combination to walk + use!!

Changes from 2.0 to 2.1:
  • Fixed a bug where the overridden functions wouldn't return the old values. (Thanks fishface60!)

Changes from 2.1 to 2.5:
  • Added sideways aim so it aims sideways and not just straight forward
  • Added damage to seats so when you shoot the seat you'll damage the player in it. (sorry but this is all I can do. It's better than nothing)
  • Added spawnicons
  • Added jalopy seat
  • Fixed other vehicles being broken while using this. Please report back on this!
  • Fixed animation sometimes breaking
  • Fixed being in noclip when you get out of undo
  • Fixed that the player sometimes is not rendering onto the seat properly
  • Fixed player_shd.lua errors you might get when undoing the seat

Changes from 2.5 to 3.0:
  • You now get out with "use", but if you hold "walk" it won't get out so you can press buttons and stuff like that
  • Less laggy movement
  • Fixed and improved hold animations
  • Fixed the player sometimes being under the seat
  • If you have the physgun selected and you're holding use it won't exit
  • If you exit while looking at the seat it will exit like a normal seat
  • If you're rotating the seat with your physgun it won't enter it
  • Better code
  • Fixed office small and big conflicting
  • Fixed adv dupe making the seats normal

CapsAdmin, you have ASTOUNDED me YET AGAIN.

your torso and gun doesn't turn in the seat.

I haven't had time to test it yet but knowing what your capable of I can already cingratulate you for tackling this ages old problem! It had long been said to be either impossible or too complex to be done properly so I am looking forward to reading it later.

there was another addon like this but one of the gmod updates messed it up it was called shoot seat or something.

Maybe with some InVehicle() code and stuff, you could make weapons only useable inside these seats.

EDIT: You are actually in a vehicle right? :S

Nope.

You get parented to the seat + many other things to make it look and behave good.

Ah well, I can still make ridiculously powerful guns and tell people not to shoot them outside the chairs.

Edited:

There's a bug with certain sweps recoil, ones that push the players view permanently (CSS sweps etc) that makes your camera go all over the place.

im so akinsg my friend to put on the server, im a admin ther too. ill just grab a seat, go to the sky craper on gm construct, pull out the sniper, and wait for minges.

I fixed the bug where css weapons were always lowered. (they now animate like the vanilla weapons)

I would like to fix some more bugs before I release, such as the crazy spin with css weapons.

Edited:

I have a fix for it.

I just emulate the aim in CreateMove but I only do it in singleplayer.

The only downside about that is that there is no recoil.

Caps, you really should combine this with that Ride-able Horse Addon that That's in production (http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=871031). Would be an awesome combination for western style fights.

Just a suggestion, hope you consider it though.

This is, of course, if the creator of that addon ever finishes. Maybe you can work together.

This is currently very buggy. I'm working on a better solution for positioning the player.

What I mean by very buggy is that the aim is off when the chair rotates too much.

(Mostly because I have no idea how to calculate the angles when it's rolled sideways. )

I have a problem.

The player won't rotate. If it's upside down, the view gets upside down but the player doesn't really rotate. The player is always upright.

This causes aiming problems when you're upside down or sideways so I'm gonna create a cvar to turn it off or not.

That or I can try to make it position from the shoot position instead of the origin position (origin being the feet)

Yup, good news. I got it working aim-wise. I just gotta make some tiny adjustments to the aim so it will be almost perfect.

Had a tiny mistake in the code that made every other player in seats be off position when you sit in a seat.

Reuploaded it.

I found a way to make the aiming 100% accurate while seated!

What about that, we can use things while sitting? I mean, like you can sit in your car, drive and push buttons that you have inside the car. It would be so useful for making planes and stuff...

I never really tried pressing buttons while seated, it should work though.
