Yo, here is my first map ever, it took almost 5 months to build, so here it is.

This map is based off of Half-Life's The Specialists' roleplay map fiskcity_b2.
This map contains alot of custom content, hence the big size(300mb unzip'd).
You can play 3 different soundtracks in the disco.

I just played it. It's a generally nice map, I did notice a few missing textures, which is strange because I own most source games (apart from Day of Defeat). [I just re-read the original post. My mistake]

So, Like I said it's nice. I loved the sewers and the red room, and your GTAIV props helped you A LOT in this production. The rooftop swimming pool really contrasted well with the night sky. Sometimes it can be a little dark or way too bright in shops and tunnels, and lights don't seem to have an origin. And if they do, it's pretty vague. The night time lighting can be pretty disorientating, especially when mixed with the overly specular'd road textures. Some of the buildings don't have windows, e.g. the hotel/apartments (the blue ones), which could have a huge affect on residents. :bang:

Another big problem I noticed was optimization. To be perfectly honest, you didn't do a very good job, On my 9800 GT I was get a range from 15 - 120 FPS in this map. 15 on the street. 120 in some of the shops and the sewers.

But like I said, it's a generally good map and I hope you take this constructive criticism well, and good luck on new versions/your next project. Especially the GTAIV props., I can't wait to see more of them!!!

No problem, yes, I didn't optimize it almost all(tried many times to put areaportals, fail.) just hint brushes and nodraw'd faces you can't see and the missing textures are fixed as soon as I get this fixed version uploaded. There's still 1 very small missing texture problem, I tried packing the texture into the .bsp but it still shows up, and the texture is right (checked via hammer).

I had trouble finding anything I didn't like, though that far right roof in the seventh screenshot, is the invisible top viewable from the accessible building roof in the center?
Because roofs are quite important in RP maps, even if they aren't accessible, they're fun to mess around on.

Surprise! I made you a video! I did it about 10 hours ago but with a mixture of filming errors, bad internet connections and forgetting Youtube passwords it's taken ages. As you know, I'm not a proffesional, I'm not talented in the ways of video editing. But it was time worth spending on a map that time was spent to mak- I'm so lost. Anyway, Enjoy.

Also if you guys didn't know, you can open the cash registers at the diner, browse the porn mag in PD Chief's office, trigger the fire bell in bank, control the Fat Chance machine in arcade room, look through cameras via a monitor in PD.

Well, actually no. DarkRP is quite popular. I think that this map fits on DarkRP, Cider or Cakescript.

OH SHIT. I remember my TSRP days. I played off and on, I played six months, got bored and quit for six months, so on. I played on UnderGround-Networks, ran by Cypher. It was probably the best server I had played on. I liked Bad-Habits alot, but all the admins were abusive and everyone was so snoody. It's in TSRP's nature, but everyone there was super snoody. Fisk was a great map, I always got on servers are abused the unlockable diner door that had the sawed off behind the counter, and I'd DM. Loved that map.

Pretty good map. Nothing like the fisk I remember though. Guess it got updated. The only thing that's still there is that weird apartment building with the balcony on the top floor that's right next to the hotel.

no evocity, if your talking about evocity 2d? with all custom textures and models stuff in the bsp file comes in at 329mb.

Suggestions:

- Optimize. Yeah it's tedious and dull but fixing up those bugs and bad brushes and things will really goes a long way towards getting people to use your map for a server.

- Cut down on the custom models a bit. For example the arcade: I'd say get rid of it, you could free up that space for something with a more function and cut all those arcade models from the download list. Same thing goes for the materials, while I like a lot of the custom materials, you don't need a brand new texture for every single thing, it's okay to use the defaults for some stuff.

- Ditch the fog in the park, it cuts into the fps and it actually takes away from what I think is a really nice area in the map. Use that kind of effect in the smaller scale like you did with the vent in front of the disco (liked that btw)

- Fix the rotating door, it's a death trap.

- Make the flags stationary, I like that you tried to do something cool with the 'waving flags' idea, but they just look like they're spazzing out.

- For the disco, if you'd like to cut down the download size, ditch the current tunes in favor of some short (< 60s) loop-able beats, I like 'What is Love' as much as the next guy but if you can fill the space taken by one track with three or four unique beats it's a small sacrifice.

- Day might be the way to go for v2, at the very least you can cut down on most of the lights, although like a previous poster said, the view of the Moon from the rooftop pool was pretty sweet.

- Most importantly, be persistent, and stay optimistic. You already got through the hardest part: finishing the first version of the map, and what you've produced has a LOT of potential in my opinion. Just keep working on it, improving things here and there and before you know it your map could be replacing evocity or downtown. :)
