Download hldsupdatetool and perform the required steps for installing a l4d2 server - it's not that hard to google for the required steps. One good resource is www.srcds.com. Once you installed srcds with l4d on your home pc, upload the files to your server.

to add onto what avon was saying i found a pretty simple yet easy guide here http://blog.theevilpc.com/2009/11/le...ver-setup.html (just ignore the last few steps as those are for cracking the server for non steam players)

I wish it was possible to mount game content by only having the Dedicated Servers, for example if you don't have The Ship and only got the Dedicated Server it WILL give you access to the models, sounds and textures because they're in the steamapps folder and are GCFs (I wonder if The Ship will ever get updated to Mac... Dedicated Server content only contains models, no materials. I once tried that using DoD:S but got "forced" to buy it (due to no materials). Valve is not stupid :P

Use SVN. The zip-download is currently disabled because I got problems with the server who is hosting it. Back in a few days. Hopefully tomorrow.

If L4D is listed in the "path" command, the server shall tell that it's mounting L4D (it's NOT AT THE SAME POSITION where it mounts HL2/CS:S etc - It's later).
Also make sure you use the srcds L4D1/2 version and not the client version.

I can't understand why you guys get problems with mounting the game on srcds.

Yeah, I probably should've been more specific. L4D/2 wasn't showing up in extensions before, only my sourcmeods were. But I just uninstalled gm_mount and reinstalled it and now it works fine.

Well ok, but I found out that L4D2 uses version 21 maps which is lucky. But I found a big bug in the Vehicle Pack which is very outdated and is on garrysmod.org and it is that ever since the TF2 Ambulance got accepted into TF2 it caused the Ambulance in the Vehicle Pack to not spawn and such, but I know what to do and it is to hex that ambulance in the vehicle pack and change something in one of the lua files in lua/autorun

Yes, garry removed the ability to load lua-scripts in the menu-state because "he does not want us to load scripts there using 'hacky' methods".
Luckily, how it seems, he might be working on a solution and may allow us loading code in the menu-instance (how I understood him). If this is true, I'd like it.
