To me it looks like a chaotic streetview where a lamp is halfway fallen, a darkish night sky and some cables running through the picture.

Also the Aperture logo is the right way in this perspective.

Wait wait, I was right
that thing at the top looks like a streetlamp and there are what looks like various bits of rubble laying around.
Could this be the borealis's drydock after it teleported?
I can't see that at all =/
all i see is a messy lab/office
Is that a little girl over there
i think so also how would i connect to the bbs?
Bottom left it says "(composite image by auricon! yay!)".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auricon
Any connection?
Auricon cameras are 16 mm film Single system sound-on-film motion picture cameras
Interesting but it says Auricom
Auricon cameras are notable in that they record sound directly onto the same film as the image is photographed thus eliminating the need for a separate audio recorder.
I've got a feeling we're supposed to turn those images into sound or something.
Which image makes the reference to Auricon cameras? Link? (a FileSmelt link please, since my school blocks most image hosting websites).

Anyway, I just made another discovery. You can turn ASCII into sound!
http://www.soundslogical.com/support...SCII_file.html
Sad fact, the trial download of WaveWarp seems to be dead so I can't test the theory. Anybody know software that can do this?
It doesn't say auricon, it says auricom
http://www.auricom.com/
what
it's just a programmer's site
http://www.auricom.com/devote/
Edited: Rating bad reading. That says Auricom.![]()
The image are composed out of sound, not the other way round.
Oh damn! I think you're right. Still it would be interesting to see if my theory produces anything as it could be "auricom" simply to avoid legal difficulties or something?
Doubtful. If they were pointing us that way, they wouldn't play around with one letter like that.
try it
it's not like we have a mountain of leads to go on.
Hell, we should still try converting ASCII into sound.
Worth a try, since we've got nothing else to do but lurk the steam forums.
Try the ascii to sound thing
(you need the raw ascii to do this though, don't you?)
Guess you do.
Now that's a problem.
It wouldn't work to use the ascii from image generator then?
Unless someone wants to type all that ascii.
Just connect to the BBS and output the data to a text file. I would, but I'm at school atm.
Well, I got a guy turning ASCII into sounds for us on the steam forums:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...postcount=2529
Here's the raw ASCII: http://kevin.fobby.net/portal_puzzle...ack_to_binary/
EDIT: Apparently, that is. I found the link from here: http://netshroud.wordpress.com/2010/...ission-update/
This is bizarre. I was last on here just after the update hit and found the signal for the first 8. The pictures you found are incredible. I've got that slightly scared undercurrent of a conspiracy inside me.
I'm really looking forward to someone rounding this up in a nice 100-page article that i will take with me to the grave and read on my children and grandchildrens bedside..
Have the ASCII files been turned into sound soon?
the guy on the steam forum is working on it, he says he can hear voices.

I clicked log 3 and it brought me to a jumbled mess. And at the bottom was thisLook at the date.Code:CONFIDENTIAL October 17th, 1976 Re: Human Enrichment & Testing Initiative, Resource Acquisitions 1. "Low Risk" Human Resource Acquisitions a. Theres a few people chatting in the Portal group chat on Steam

Please add the Wiki/IRC/Wave by some other guys (from Steam forums) to this page:

XD they use hobos as test subjects.
As well as these guys

Made a quick video about one of the first radios and what happens when you move it around:
Working on a video with all the locations and how to get the achievement.
(read the description and notes left in the video on youtube)
Thats the second, not the first.
Figured that out when it was just finished rendering.
Old, was knewn in original topic on page 3 or something.
I compiled all of the raw ascii logs from the BBS into one file. Here it is for anyone interested.
I think in Portal 2/Episode 3, GlaDOS might be a friendly, She might be one of those Robot things,
She might of replace a robots AI with hers
I think that's just the user's name who combined all the ascii pictures he got from the BBS into that composite image, not something actually put in by Valve.
but if I'm wrong, Auricom was the name of a research organization in the Wipeoput series of games.
Apparently someone on the steam forums got all the info out of that thing with the Hobos. http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...97&postcount=1
