First time I watched The Dark knight in blu-ray I was amazed.

Never had I ever seen anything like it.

The PS3 is fantastic at upscaling. I downloaded Breaking Bad season 4 (since it's impossible to buy in the UK) and it looked shit on my PC but very decent on my TV through a PS3.
Was probably the TV and not the PS3 that did it.

Also got the LOTR extended edition bluray set (15 discs and too many hours of bonus features) and black dynamite bluray. I'm really liking blurays even more with my new 2.1 speaker setup (has some cheap, ancient Dell speakers before), the sub woofer is awesome when the Balrog shouts.

The British Film Institute recently did a Black Friday offer where you could get 20 blu rays for £120. That's, I don't know, Less than $200 USD. Absolute bargain. Normally you would pay £400 for 20 of their blu rays. They even threw in a freebie too.

Recently seen BloodSport on BluRay, it looked amazing especially considering the previous DVD version looked so poor.

    Price?
    Shit is more expensive?

No not really. Most of them are about the same as a brand new DVD.
    Well, no, not really.

I'll see a brand new DVD at walmart for 20 bucks and that same movie on Blu-ray for 25-35 bucks.

Got this bad boy last year, it's pretty amazing.
Only thing is the PAL version which I have, is missing Spartacus and Dr. Strangelove. I don't care much for Spartacus but I'll have to get Strangelove separately.

So I got a Blu Ray drive for Christmas, it wouldn't work because I don't have an HDMI monitor, then it started to work because I guess I was using AnyDVD, but now AnyDVD says its not on so its back to not playing my Blu Rays.

    What do I do?

Make sure the drive is plugged in correctly?

    Edited:

Also enable AnyDVD HD on the drive in the options?

Do you recommend even bothering to buy bluray? For it seems very likely they will be outdated soon anyway.

I don't think it will be outdated soon. 99% of all screens don't even have a resolution higher than 1920x1080.

    Edited:

And yes, they are so much better than DVDs

Yeah there's no PAL or NTSC, but they do still have regions (although some are region free).

I have at least 150 or 200 films, most which I consider good. I have no idea where to go from now, but I need to see what George Lucas did. Besides, I haven't seen a single Star Wars film besides Episode IV.

You could get the special edition DVDs instead which have the original theatrical releases.

Or you could donate that $100 to charity, better than giving it to Lucas

If you've never seen the other two, don't watch the bluray edits, watch the originals.

    ...what?

That reminds me, I was in a camera shop the other day and the woman in front of me was buying a camcorder. She refused to buy an HD one because "I don't believe in high density. It's a fad. It'll go out."

ffff I was fuming. HIGH DENSITY!?

And also, "a fad"? That's like saying "computers are just a fad, we'll go back to typewriters eventually."

Bought the Star Wars box set.
I had forgotten just how bad Episode I is. The acting, the writing.
At least the effects are still pretty good.

    Edited:

Also bought Donnie Darko (including directors cut)
    Love that movie

The only movie i could think of is the 80s version of The Thing(because of above cover). Don't know about it's picture quality though.
