Any Deus Ex fans out there? I'm doing this little remake/remix of the Unatco theme by ear.

The twist is that I only allowed myself to listen to the original once, and that was a few days ago, so I'm not sure what I'm missing .

    Thanks!

I was aiming to make it sound more like Human Revolution (the newest Deus Ex), because while awesome, the old Deus Ex tracks sound kinda thin and goofy at times .

So this song now have lyrics. What are they? Well they aren't me, and they go something like, "MMMM! Two! Ye-e-e--e-e-e-a-a-h-h-h-h MM FOUR FOUR. Y-a-a-a-a--y--y-y-y! I know for sure - sure. Busy immediately. Bustin', dancin', bustin', dancin'. Check me rocking right in the mix! Oh! Oh! It's gninnips it's back! Yes, yes, yes, yes, oh! That's good!"

On a serious note, the new stuff is at 3.41, and I tried to add more punch to my bass.

Also a lot of dynamics/special effects/mixing things are done after the multi-tracks are exported from Jeskola Buzz and thrown into Sony Acid. I'm still within Jeskola Buzz.
Shiiit that's awesome. I'm really wondering how you do that resonant acidy saw bass thing.

http://wauterboi.com/files/303.wav - Without all of the effects.

The program I'm using works in a layout that shows the chain effects the sound travels through. I'm not showing the complete layout because it's a mess at the moment, haha:

Anyway, it starts with the 3o3 plugin. Lots of gliding being turned on and off happening here. (It's actually called sliding within this plugin but it's the same idea.) At the same time, I made a couple LFO's that circulate between two points on the resonance and cutoff. I have them alternating like so:

At the beginning of the LFO:

Half-way through the LFO just before it goes back to the beginning:

It goes to a plugin called Pampurfe configured to provide a slight tube distortion. Tethys is a filter I'm using to drop out a lot of the low-end.

Mercury's just part of the filters I'm using to make the intro filtering effect. Disregard it.

    GlissEQ is an equalizer.

    Edited:

You really need to add some reverb here. Put a reverb on a return track and feed the channels to it in varying amounts. It's a great way to add depth, if you add more reverb to some instruments they will go further back in the mix and give it depth.
So, I'm taking it I'm adding reverb goes on the backing instruments? I am actually doing the things you guys are saying, just to let you know. :P

Really the best way to get is to try and see how it sounds. Personally I put a bit on everything except bass and the kick.

This is great, the beginning very much reminds me of Tom Waits, and that's a good thing; you've got that mad industrial puffing going on, the weird high pitched 'singing' thing behind it, it's awesome.

    Kinda like those.

You should add a compressor to the kick, then give it a boost at the 200hz range, that way it'll kick really hard. I think having some minor reverb on it too would also make it fit in better with the rest of the drums, the whole song is a bit "distant" right now beyond the kick, which I think doesn't fit that well, having all the mentioned effects on the kick will also give it a much fatter and juicier sound which will really make it sound so damn funky you'll want to tear off your clothes.

I think diamond loses alot of its effect when the piano does not completely fade out but instead ends abruptly like it is afraid of showing its face when instead it should be more in the sun and get a nice tan

there is some clipping in the song, like at 0:18, it happens most of the time when that particular chord is played and it should be fixed I think. Here piano could do with some reverb I think, drums could also have some more spotlight!

Here is song that I know all the cool cats will enjoy, only now I think vocals needs to be added and I got a song that alot of people will really love

It sounds pretty good. I can't really find a con for this track. How it's recorded and how you're presenting it is kind of bleh. It feels like it's exploding my headphones and clipping. Are you doing anything to prevent clipping?

Give it some vocals and it'll feel more complete, or if you're up for shredding something on a guitar for the lead that works too.

Taking a break. This is a lot of messing around with nothing set in stone. The build up later into the song is crappy, but I'll work on it some more.

I don't work with vocals too much either.

The original by one of my friends Hamster Alliance:

I record it by micing up my guitar amp in my living room, plugging my bass directly into the sound card and drums are played with my digital drum kit How do you mean presenting it is kinda bleh? I can't find any clipping when I listen to the track, is there any specific places where it clips? I look in my DAW to see if any places sort of peak too much over rest of the track to find if it clips and if it does I lower the volume only slightly on that instrument or whatever it is so that it doesn't peak up too much

Oh this is really funky. It would be even better if you turned down the individual channels so it wouldn't clip on the master. But seriously this is the single funkiest thing I've heard posted here.

Anyway, made a battle beat or something. Wanted it to be kinda in your face and loud:

i like the second one alot. the clap is mad as hell and the swing of the tune is really slow and wavey, however the melody doesn't really do the sound justice. as with the first one, it sounds like its out of key almost and the composition doesn't really make a lot of sense.

your sounds are pretty rad though, i like the synthwork alot. just try to learn yo some musical theory in the heezy and you'll be making rockin tracks in no time

i don't see you making any attempts at making music. i think overpain's coming along quite well, the bass melody is quite nice in the latter half of the song. and his mixdowns are pretty clean too; we could all improve but what the fuck gives you the right to judge someone else's progress negatively?

Your song is fucking insanely awesome!

I loved the little arp thing that was going throughout the song, it kept the song pumping, kinda made me feel like I was running away from something.

It reminds me of those 90s songs where they had a similar thing, except you've revived it into a sexy, sleek 21st century version.
