Anyone know any ways of obtaining free drum samples?
Anyone know any ways of obtaining free drum samples?
Getting drum samples for free is easy, the only problem is getting good samples that are free.
I need an objective opinion on this song. It's for a sample pack contest so all the sounds were made from the given samples - no synths.

Let me know on a scale from 0-9.

Also, I'm going to be up against more 'mainstream' sounding stuff so I want as much criticism as I can get.

What I've been working on lately...
Slap some over-driven break beats on top of it and you have a hit!
It's amazing just how much higher quality everyone's shit sounds over mine... Regardless I march forward.
Is there some meeting on good tone that everyone had and I slept threw?
i like the panning, the sounds are a bit sharp though. you might want to play around with the synths a little more to make sure that they're not so piercing. also bring the piano out a little bit more, and try to bring out more highs from it as well as it sounds really nice
i like alot of the effects you use too, they're pretty sweet, and i like the guitar work. the guitar work could also use some more highs however
more of what ive been working on, getting kinda sick of it now so ill probably abandon it for another tune soon enough
Damn that's cool, it's kind of weird when it cuts out after high passing, but I like that.
I took a bunch of Hyena sound samples, Tweaked them in Harmor and put them into a dance track as part of a melody.
I haven't posted here in a while. Anyway, a WIP.

Really nice, it's got a lot of momentum and drive thanks to the drums and that rolling bass. The progression is also quite good.
That sounds really nice, everything works very well together. I really love the ambient feel to it, I've always sucked at making ambience despite me loving it so I'm jealous. That said the bitcrushed perc that come sin at around 1:38 is a bit loud imo though I like the reverb.
The synths all sound fine to me as is the majority of the melody. I've never been great at telling pitch with my ear but to me it sounds as if the fourth chord in your progression is out of key.
I really like the bass synth and the mix that you have with the higher synth that come in at 1:09. It also helps that they are actually playing a melody that's quite nice.
The huge synth that comes in is really good but I'm not the biggest fan of the high pitched pluck. The drums are also quite good, the snare is powerful and the kick can be heard clearly.
Some new liquid dubstep im working on. The snap needs a rework.
This really falls apart :/ I didn't know what to do after the first 16 bars
Was actually meant to be a instrumental but I had the vocals and they seemed to work so I slapped them on top.
get rid of the electro synth lurking in the background, it seems to be in mono and it doesn't really fit with any of the other synths
try to replace it with something a little more stabby, something that doesn't have too much high but rather stretches into the bass/midrange section cause there doesnt seem to be alot of bass going on. the reverby synths are great, and the breakdown sounds brilliant. especially for a work in progress, alot of it seems to be spot on. not really too sure about the noise sweeps, maybe put a highpass on them and reduce the reverb; i'm also not a big fan of the way the kicks go crazy before the breakdown
Still not much mixing, but yeah. Full layout.
About to do some C&C, just gimme a sec.

The way everything's organized rhythm-wise just sounds kind of strange, but that might be what you're going for. It's also very repetitive - it needs a direction.
Edited:
It's very neat, I love it. It just needs an atmosphere to fill in the blanks. It needs a bigger sound not in the sense that it needs to be obnoxious, but it just needs a fuller sound. If you can do that you win.

I think this is great, man. After the strings come in with the backing piano, it sounds like, it starts to grow more dissonant. Look out for that. But everything else is great, you're improving way faster than I ever could.

Those waveforums soundcloud drew are crazy!
Perhaps unrealistically dry at the very beginning. Maybe try adding some reverb. Not too much, just enough to make it sound more natural. That's all on if you want to - I'm just telling you what I'd do.
I don't like how the two sections - it drifts into nothing, but I'll assume that's because they're two different sections of work that you're going to blend together.
The gating on the supersaw is really iffy in terms of rhythm. Have them cleaner and attached to 8th/16th notes.
The filtering is a bit random when the beat really kicks in at the end - I think in general you have everything kind floating around and everything's definitely there (I can hear it), you just need to tie 'em down and get 'em under control. Everything sounds fine - it's just the rhythm of the gates and the abrupt filtering that kind of makes it strange to listen to.

I like using grainy beats and this site's chuck full of 'em. Understand that not every pack is royalty-free and understand that not every single pack is quality.
I have a giant folder of breaks from this site and I regularly use 'em. :D
Everyone, buy or download Vengeance Electroshock, best sample pack atm.

Could listen to this into forever.
An 8bit song I'm working on.
"Rip Tide"
Here's some other beats that I think are cool. They all pretty much need to be heard with some bass speakers.
"Crossed"
"Dexterity"
"Deep Dumper"
"Translucent"
"bass speakers"
uhuh, they just sound poorly mixed/compressed on my monitors
working on some gameboy tunes, effects and such
also got logic pro running a few days ago, did something silly with the included sets
I think I'm finished with this. Was very fun to work on.
And this
I can't sleep.
The only thing I can suggest is some kind of intro.
Fucking awesome, I just lost myself midway
gotta love MPT.
Dropbox because i'm too lazy to use soundcloud
i don't even know what genre this comes under, but it's a mega heavy wip
Dug this out, fixed some stuff, and someone suggested me to call it Tibet. I don't like the symbols and my strings sound really fake for some reason. Here you go:
I'm thinking of adding synths and other weird stuff to this
Thoughts/Ideas?![]()
Pretty much finished the actual composing part. Reason's calling.
white horse. started working on it properly this morning

i like this alot, its got alot of intrigue behind it and a kinda creepy feel. reminds me alot of the dwarf fortress theme, and is pretty well composed. might be a bit slow for my liking, but that's just my opinion, go with whatever you feel is best.
I hope someday I can be as good guitarplayer as the one who made that theme (it is really cool by the way thanks for showing)
Re: your song
I'm not too big fan of synth in middle of song that enters it takes over too much of cool synth in beginning, I think something more booming and brassy would really make cooler synth for that sort of thing your going after!
I made update, now with dopey synths and also drums!
Could someone tell me if this sounds alright? I cant help it but think that after the build up it sounds off. Halp!
Holy shit, that's a really cool song
Edited:
Dude I love the MBV-ness of this
Sounds p sweet. You should do this stuff more often
perfect

also i made more hip-hop
Wow I'm really liking this one. You're getting really damn good at these
Best song on page, and no one knows. Don't stop making music. This is the only song I've heard with a sense of style on this forum in days.
To everyone else, you gotta compete with this. Understand it's not about cranking out house tunes, or just making something for the heck of it or because you feel like you need more material.
It's about making the catchiest song in a style that suits you. (I can't say own style because everything is derived from something else, and I know some people are just waiting to tell me off)
Really thinking of dropping $200 on Logic Pro 9
Try it before you buy it.
If you find you dislike it/aren't comfy using it and/or producing in it and you will have spent $200 on it, you'll REALLY regret it.
