I do not remember seen Tikay saying that he had it have a good laugh to make map but rather than he has got other activities in his life...
Personally I prefer whether it is Tikay who finishes his map because He make a beautiful map.
I find his map much better than mine which is also in development.

How about we wait and see what happens. If he finishes the map, then that's awesome, and if he doesn't well, that's his choice, personal life comes first. If anyone wants to make something like it, go ahead and do it, but this map, to be honest, should only be made by Tikay. It just wouldn't be right to switch like that, the map is his vision, and if someone else took over, it would drastically change.

Of corse it will be better if he finish the map, but it will be a good start to be sure playing this map before world's end...
have a unperfect map, or havn't a map at all...
But he will deside himself, choose to finish or let them unfinished forever... but maybe it's not the point currently ?

xD now,... what did i say about flyboi's decision to cancel his map?
it'll sure happen to tikays map aswell...
telling him it should have been done by now will just make it worse.
i know the (if you wanna call it that) "problem" with mapping and the needed motivation, plus the time you sometimes just can't afford to work on it. ^^
the experience made in the past tells me, that this map will be canceled just like the rest of other good/promising/awesome projects, but i haven't given up hope yet to avoid this disaster hence the reason why i urge everyone to sit down and relax.

there are a lot of persons who still have the motivation to finish the map, I have this motivation for example
he just have to made this... difficult decision, or just give me some works, ask me some help to find solutions on his problem.
maybe a little community could be created to finish this map !

About your suggestion/request/plea/whatever:
No. Only because I don't post new screenshots doesn't mean I'm not working on it.
I'll either release the .bsp when it's done or the .vmf if I don't see a completion being possible for whatever reasons.
As long as neither of the two outcomes come true, picture me still working on the map.

Why are you people still here? This map is another failiure, I know, cause I did the same, I started a map, then there were more important things coming and i made only 2-3 mouseclicks in a week and one day, it came to me that, fuck that and i shut down, i think tikaly has done a hell of a job with his map, but, at his/her current progress, the release of this map will not be at any time soon, i suggsest, u go, have girlfriend, not waiting, until a curtain dude will finish it, he has personal life, not like some of you imagine him sitting at his computer, trying to finish it 24/7 :D JUST give a guy some space.

Saying "news plz" won't make the OP give you screenshots just because you asked.
Read the post he made; He'll either release a BSP when it's done or he'll release a VMF if it's cancelled. If neither one has happened yet, picture him working on the map.

I'm toying with the idea of splitting the map.
Would you prefer one big map including as much as possible of Destiny while also featuring a few gate locations?
Or rather two specialised maps:
1. Detailed Destiny interior + Icarus Base
2. Just Destiny's gate room + a hand full gate locations

That depends, are you considering the split because the map is getting too much for Hammer, or just because you think it might become more detailed if you size it down? I've always valued both freeplay and detail but with Hammer maybe you can't have both at this scale, so I would pick one map as long as it doesn't crash and the detail is still how you want it to be :) Good luck anyways, I know whatever you choose the outcome will be good!

It depends really, I would like as much of Destiny as possible, but that is also dependant on these 'other' locations that you would add into the map and how detailed they are, etc.

am curious about the map-overview on page 1.
not atleast because of the variety of set variations on sgu, i'm pretty much clueless about where the familiar rooms are located.
from my point of view, it looks like:
level -1: controle interface + maybe some corridors and crew compartments
level 0: gateroom (main floor), nexus, shuttle bay, storage room, observation deck, etc.
level 1: kino room, nexus, gateroom (upper floor), storage room, etc.
i don't suppose there have been major changes in the overall layout, or?

level 0: gateroom, storage rooms 1 & 2, portside shuttle bays, observation deck, kino room, dome, a few quarters
level 1: upper gateroom, upper storage rooms 1 & 2, more quarters
level ?: infirmary, mess hall, aplcr room

although i would scream like a fan girl, if there's a chance for the bridge (pushing the up/down button all day)...you'd better not count on it.
it's easily the most detailed room aboard destiny and probably eat a whole lot of resources

The bridge requires too much work in order to look good. Definetely not in the first release.
