Should I get a Droid 2 or Droid X?
Should I get a Droid 2 or Droid X?
Fuck yes, Galaxy S actually got a decent Froyo firmware update. The benchmarks are nearly the same but it has flash player 10 and all that jazz. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769400
i can speel gud
Is there any itunes-esque way of putting music files on my Galaxy S (Say through a media player?) I just drag and drop but everytime I do some of the files fuck up and some become corrupted or lose sound quality.
that may have something to do with the fact that the speaker in your phone is smaller than a quarter.
It's not really the volume output, more just every so often the song pauses and crackles showing that the files were transfered badly I reckon. It used to happen on my old LG when I put songs on to it but didn't expect the same problems with this phone. How are you guys putting music on your phones? I'm dragging and dropping in and around 600 songs in one go? Bad idea?
Apparently the DroidX 2.2 leaked OTA update is going to cause problems for those who updated to it early.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dro...-2-update.html
Although, the 2.2 that was leaked has no problems, and will most likely be the last update the DroidX will get, so those who don't want to drop back to 2.1 to get the official probably have nothing to worry about.
that's how I do it. the issue is that you have a tinny little speaker in there
Try Doubletwist
interesting logic
sort of like wasting $200-300 collectively on two or three shitty tablets
see what i did there? sarcasm and a burn
Edited:
if the performance is similar that's kind of a disappointment, honestly.
everything else has skyrocketed in performance in eclair vs froyo, so it's troubling to see Galaxy S sort of remains the same. is there an explanation?
Edited:
i thought a lot of 2.1/2.2 phones could already sync up through itunes, and i thought Galaxy S was one of the series of phones included.
uhh... what? iTunes... an Apple product... play nice with Android... a Google product? No way. doubleTwist is the closest you can get because it imports everything from iTunes.
I sold my old tablet for double it's price and then sold a laptop for double it's price, anyway it's not a shitty tablet.
Probably better than whatever shit you have.
So I just rooted my 2.2 moto droid while I wait for november to get an upgrade. What ROM should I get? I was looking a Cyanaogen 6, but are there any other one with more features?
How should I get a scratch out of a touchscreen? That toothpaste stuff...I never get it right.
Edited:
ok now everything I download is saying "download unsuccessful"
:wtc:
anybody?
Put a screen protector on it, it should look like there are no scratches on it.
take better care of your most likely expensive device.
well it's not like Apple allows it, no, but I was pretty certain there was an Android device or a few that could sync with iTunes, much like the Palm Pre could/couldn't/could/couldn't/could/couldn't/etc.
Edited:
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
you do have me there, i don't have an android device. and yet you don't have me at all, for i am a cautious consumer, and do not waste my money.
you see i could afford and could buy the Evo when it came out, in fact i had good intentions to do so, but three Best Buy's and five Sprint stores were completely out that day. so then I waited a couple of days, sure enough, the next day articles sprouted up about the glass "screen" fucking separating. then articles about the framerate being locked - fuck.
next i set my sites on the Droid X, however it took so long to come out and knowledge of other, considerably possibly better devices (Galaxy S) got out, "eFuse" got out (that's been worked around though), and by the time they finally started accepting pre-orders it didn't really look that good.
then, Galaxy S. by the nine divine if i were to buy a phone RIGHT NOW it would be a Galaxy S phone. though, not long after pictures for these bad boys finally arose, info on Android 3.0 and 3.0 devices' possible specs started leaking all over the place, from drips to torrential downpours.
1280x760 resolution at 4"? sweet merciful fsm... now, that was probably a rumor, but seeing as the iPhone 4 has the Retina display, i doubt it, how long did it take for the original iPhone's resolution to become passe? not even a year. not only is high pixel density in the rumormill for the ever approaching 3.0 devices, but dual-core processors and Tegra 2 as well! yeah, tegra "fuckin 1080p" 2. a REAL gpu, and i know the Galaxy S phones, Moto Droids, and iPhones have gpus, but none of them are at all close to TEGRA 2. in fact, in the most talked about recent news, Sony even has a PlayStation relevant Android 3.0 phone in the works that'll be sporting Tegra 2.
so, i don't have an android device, but when i do, it'll be...
Probably better than whatever shit you have.
except indefinitely so. because i have patience and i'm not easily wowed.
Any news on a one-click root for FRG22D 2.2 seeing as how Google patched the original exploit?
I think you just need to get out and buy something. If you keep holding off because of a minor problem or because something better is on the horizon you'll never buy anything. There is always going to be something on the horizon, and nothing is going to be absolutely perfect.
You probably should have gotten the EVO. I don't know how widespread the screen issue is, but it probably only affected a handful of people. And the framerate issue is kind of dumb reason to not buy it. Just in my personal opinion, there isn't any need to get OMG OC 2 THE MAX gaming performance out of a phone. Android doesn't even have that many games right now, so the gaming performance is somewhat pointless.
Easy root might not have been patched.
Otherwise, google '[Your phone] root'
If its a droid 1 then http://www.droidforums.net/forum/res...s-version.html
yeah I do now, but I thought using my nails lightly wouldn't scratch it
this is good advice
I might try this. Thing is, it's a pulse mini, and I'm not sure if anyone makes a protector for that. Can you get them custom-made? (Not to sound like a stupid twat)
Invisishield kits can be cut to size to fit any device.
Hm. I suppose. I'll sniff around locally first.
I went away from the awesome Dolphin HD2 to xScope. Reason: Dolphin was slow. I mean really slow (no idea, if it's finally fixed. Anyway, I stay away from Dolphin now). Sometimes, it took 10 seconds before a click on a link has been recognized as a click.

Swype is not in the market as it's still a Work-In-Progress. You can only get it by participating on a beta (I was able to DL it but it said that my device is "unsupported"). I then got it by using google and "swype apk download".
I gotta problem, don't think it's thread worthy.
Device: G1
Carrier: Orange
Country / Language: English
OS / Browser / build number (if applicable): Eclair
Well my phone froze up recently and I had to wipe/recover, but since trying to import my contacts, it just goes to 100% but then they don't show up.
However, I have recieved texts and it shows their name and number and when I have dialed the number it shows up as ringing that number with the name (say home or something)
So if anyone has had this, please help

fixed, don't worry
I have a HTC legend, except I slept on it and the screen cracked so it's currently being repaired. would recommend though.

but dude if you never buy anything because there's always something better just around the corner you'll never buy anything, especially in fields such as phones and other gadgets as technology is moving kinda fast round about now. I'm all for being intelligent and looking at (for example) all the handsets from the past and next few months and deciding which is honestly best value, best quality or best suited to what I want, but if you just say "well I won't bother with an android 2 handset because android 3's gonna be out soon" when as far as I'm aware (please correct me if I'm wrong) there haven't even been any android 3 handsets officially announced yet, you'll just end up procrastinating and never buying anything. Now that's not necessarily a bad thing (it'll certainly save you money), but on the other hand you'll be kinda phoneless.
Edited:
Also not buying a phone because the shops were shut when you went to buy it does not make you a "cautious customer", as it seems to be based on chance.
it's not like i'm never going to buy one fuck
it's just that buy the time i finally got around to getting one newer better shit was already on its way.
every 9 months or so new shit comes out and that new shit is hot shit for another 9 months.
i want to get that at the start of the 9 months, not half way through, not towards the end, the beginning. get my money's worth. buying a galaxy S now, in my opinion, would be retarded because it's nearing the end of that 9orso months
Edited:
for example, it's like buying the highest end videocard of brand X's a series card, right before b series launches.
it's dumb.
just buy a fukin galaxy s bro!!!
Agreed.
Yeah, just pick up any of the 1 ghz phones, they will most likely be supported by 3.0. I'd say a Droid 2 would be nice, because the keyboard really is nice even though I complained about it before.
I have to say I agree with M_B. I got my Droid right when it came out and got it's whole life cycle even if it was short. With December nearing and Gingerbread and Dual-Core + Tegra phones coming closer, he should just wait. Pick one up when they come out and enjoy 9 - 12 months of solid awesomeness followed by a year of wishing he had one of the new awesomer phones but still loving his current one. Definitely would be a mistake to pick one up right now.
New archos tablets coming really soon:
http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20015224-1.html
I want to get the archos 101. It's about $300(according to the article), way cheaper than the iPad and has 2.2
Should I get the Galaxy S or wait until the HTC Scorpion or something similar comes out.
Edited:
I'm planning on buying a new phone every 10 or so months. Just cancel the contract, sell the phone, and then get a new phone.
I'm thinking about buying the Vibrant from Amazon.com because it's cheaper and upgrade my family plan just for my number, is this a good idea or will they pull some tricks and make me pay for a bunch of shit? Does anyone know?
it costs like $250 minimum to cancel contract when your 2 years aren't up are you crazy
I'm getting a replacement droid because the keyboard on mine is fucking up. But I have a fuck ton of mods and apps and data I REALLY don't want to lose.
Like CM6, over clocked kernel, root, settings tweaked perfectly on everything, ect.
How would I go about backing EVERYTHING up, and restoring it on the replacement?
Nandroid backup, all you'd have to do upon getting the new phone is root, install recovery, put back the SD card data, and restore.
On sprint it's 200.
Or just sell your phone and get the latest and greatest every three months, because the value of your phone won't go down. My evo will make around $500-$450, which is more than enough for cancellation and a new phone.
This thread has persuaded me to buy an Android now.
quick question and this may sounds stupid. im looking at a Sony Ericsson X10, its version is 2.1 eclair, does it update to 2.2 or is it always locked in at 2.1?
edit: dont worry, i found it and im going to buy a Samsung Galaxy S
