Or perhaps anal rape would be a euphemism for metal bb's.

    Something to think about.

The reviews, oh god I'm dying. The only way metal bb's are different from regular bb's is that they are better at penetration. They won't deform or bounce off a target, they're more likely to go through it; the same amount of energy, just used more effectively.
Of course you do not want that at all in airsoft, especially because those are no good for your barrel.

too dumb to wire the battery inside his stock

    also excessive scope
They don't have room to take a large 9.6v, I've tried that on my old Echo1 M16 before. The scope = kind of stupid but if he plays at a field anything like where I am, a scope is good for spotting purposes.

    Long post
So that guy who lit you up has a gun that shoots too hot? Getting lit up from 30 feet if guns are at safe energy levels really shouldn't mark you up that badly, even with solid metal BBs. Good thing he got kicked.

I don't think there's any reason why the BBs will behave differently. Those .33g metal BBs should behave pretty much identically to .3g plastic BBs. The energy and momentum are largely the same, so the energy won't be 'used more effectively'. Also, why would they be bad for your barrel? If your BBs are touching the barrel there's something wrong with the gun.

Not that I'm recommending their use, just they're gimmicky more than dangerous.

Well perhaps my understanding is off, but don't bb's regularly bounce around in barrels? I know that for the majority of the time they're being cushioned by air, but from my understanding, unless you have something fancy like a TK twist, you will always get some bouncing around going on, and I imagine aluminum bouncing around in your barrel isn't good for it.

    Edited:

While I'm probably wrong, I still feel that metal bb's are less likely to bounce off of targets, since they don't deform in the same way as plastic.

They have properties that I imagine are similar to biovals. Bony parts getting hit (e.g. wrist) will hurt worse, eye protection might be seriously damaged, teeth will be shot out more easily, optics and lights will break very easily, ect. because the projectile is less elastic compared to a plastic round. This is why very heavy/solid projectiles are more efficient, they hold onto their energy better, and thus put out a lot more of a punch when they hit something solid - the energy will be dispersed more violently when it meets a similarly inelastic object.

I was under the impression that airsoft barrels always cushion the BB sufficiently to prevent that sort of ricochet, although I could be totally wrong.

You're right about deformation, but solid plastic doesn't deform easily, especially when it's in a spherical shape. Plastic BBs shear but to my knowledge don't bend or squash.

From what I've been reading lately about r-hops, there is a constant amount of barrel bounce going on as soon as you fire, the trick is to get the bb to bounce in a predictable amount, sort of in the shape of a many pointed star, just have your bb bounce off the barrel in regular distances and in regular spacing, I'll try to find the pictures I saw earlier when I get back from class.

The only way I can think of to find out about the penetration is testing, or finding someone else's experiment. Maybe someone's already answered this one?

They deform much more easily than metal. "Elastic" is pretty relative in this context, but when an object made of a weak material flung at high speeds hits stuff, I imagine the effects are markedly different from a metal object with more integrity.

No, they don't. A plastic bb will deform more on impact since it's softer, whereas the metal one won't.
It's like comparing a basketball to a bowling ball, but less noticable.

If airsoft is fake military then i don't know what military my team are trying to be, since all we ever do is charge in shouting nonsense very loudly with pistols, bayonets, and other nonsensical weapons.

We've used candy bar bayonets (tactical snacks), a bb taped to the end of a stick, spring pistols as highly innefective mortars, and the legendary PANDA GUN, which was 2 M4s bolted together.
