If you are not quite sure if your computer can handle such epicness, check the system requirements lab "Can You Run It?", as they had added Civ 5 to the list of games you can check your PC specs against, and tells you how good your specs are against the minimum and recommended specs.
Sorry to say but that site is mostly inaccurate with some machines, while it varies and might work better, I have rarely seen it work well with my machines.
Can you Run it has been quite succesfull in the past for my machine.
It told me I could rune SC2, I could.
It told me I could rune MW2, I could.
All it really does is look at your system specifications. You could've found out that you could run those games by looking up the requirements and comparing them to your specs.
I know :p
But im lazy.
I won't have cause I can't buy shit online.
i hate my life :crying:
This comes out on my birthday, I'm gonna ask for it.
Anyway enough about personal shit, the new civ looks awesome.
Edit: I got it for my birthday!
My dad pre-ordered it as soon as you could on Steam.
Why the fuck is there never a Canadian civilization.
:(
Pre-order from Play.com and get exclusive Cradle of Civilization: The Mediterranean map.
Pre-order from Play.com and get exclsuive Cradle of Civilization: The Americas map.
It's too much for me... Looks like, once more, I'll be waiting for the steam sales.
Civ4+all expansions for £7 :fap:
I just hope the AI aren't too good, I'm pretty bad at Civ games, I just enjoy playing them a lot.
Because it's not a civilisation.
Gosh Civ is the only strategy tactical game am looking forward to after the settlers 4 :/
I wonder if the menu music will be as good as Baba Yetu?
Anyone care to gift me the game via steam for $50?
Don't particularly feel like paying $80 just because I live in Australia, especially considering the strength of our dollar VS the US dollar.
oh look a beggar
Generally beggars don't offer money?
I'm more like the disheveled looking kids outside the liquor store, asking people to go in for them.
This game seems pretty good, I enjoyed Civ4 and I like the new graphics.
Might buy it later this year, but why did they remove the Dutch empire :frown:
if this game does not have the high council from civ 2 i shall go on a muderous rampage
oops, thanks for reminding me of it, now its stuck in mah head again...
I've been lurking on the forums, and these are a few points that I've picked up:
Barbarians now start with camps, which act as spawn points, making them harder to remove and more annoying (but don't forget that cities can defend themselves).
Terra maps will return.
There is a 36 page thread trying to explain to people what steam is. They are currently up to describing the cloud save system.
Nukes can now completely destroy cities, unlike in Civ 4.
Cities can grow to 37 hexes in size.
You can simplify how much you need to micromanage a city.
As well as no religions, there will be no corporations.
Advisers will only be words on a screen, not like Civ 2.
EDIT: Added a load of new article links in the OP.
Cities can grow up to 37 Hexes?! What could they grow up to on Civ IV?
I've never played any Civilization games, but I own Civilization IV. I could never really get into RTS's, does that mean I wouldn't like Civ IV?
This site has a lot of info on Civ 5. Some of it might be slightly outdated.
http://well-of-souls.com/civ/
Civ is a 4x game not an RTS.
Can't wait.
My heart skipped for a second, I thought they removed Persia :saddowns:
Civ IV or other Civs aren't RTS, they're 4Xs.
Hey OP, how come in your post it says I can pre-order civ 5 from steam and get the Mesopotamia thing for 29.99 euro's (10 Euro's off) when in steam even just the regular game costs 49.99$ (I'm guessing it's similar for euro's as well as dollars) and the delux edition with the Mesopotamia thing for 59.99$, is it really 29.99 for euro's and 59.99 for dollars?
aww, i love the advisers
Where are the Spanish?
The prices are in £ (Great British Pounds), and £29.99 is equal to about $46 or €36.
Ah, I see, thanks, I really didn't understand how could such a game be priced so low.
If people want to see more in game screenshots from the more recent builds, plus getting to see more of the HUD and cities, IGN has loads of pictures.

As a Civ fan, I'm looking forward to it.
The prices differ depending on the country you reside in.
It's $80 for the normal edition in Australia, $90 for the one with the extras.
did I just hear keith FUCKING david
I hope this really spices up the combat. I never liked the combat in the games because it was rather ridiculous at times. Spearman getting killed by simple warriors in the openfield or similiar scenarios.
Looks really good and I can't acutally wait. The hexagons are also a cool additon.
Oh cool, no mac support.
Must .. BUY!
