I tried making another decal the other day but totally forgot how I got alpha channels to work in GIMP. I know I got it to work before, and I think there's a simpler way to do it than the one I'm using now, I just can't remember it ._.

People should experiment with parallax more. Does it still work in the new OB engine?

I think it'd be a great idea, for new people to include some ssbump and texture making tutorials, as in links and such.

In my opinion when posting content here people should first show the original flat texture (and normal maps and else if they want to) and then throw in some in-game screen if they like.

Pelf: I meant this just in general.

could you show this on a displacement? I'm interested about how that looks

It looks a bit naff under that lighting and scenery, it seems not only a bit eye-confusing but it doesn't look very practical.

thats why i wanted to see it on a displacement. would work as a blend i guess. mixed with dirt i mean.

    on a displacement.

I'm not liking it a bit too much myself, though I'm still trying to get a hand on SSBump generator.

Needs a seamless scale parameter if it doesn't already and you should blend the ground with dirt and the ceiling with some other rock.

It can be a model, but you can also use a lot of them on brushes if you can't be bothered, like me.

you should make a blend with yellowish sand maybe that'll work.

Make the road block a displacement. Check out some of the example maps to see how to do it, then re-post. I'm curious how it looks.

Its pretty pointless to do ssbump on a road like that. It would be better to just bumpmap it.

Though some people may want to keep their textures to themselves. Its perfectly acceptable to post in game pictures of the textures, I do encourage this though.

I guess I'll leave a texture tip. Your diffuse map is exactly that, a diffuse map. Let it be a texture for color, don't increase the contrast or shading on it, let the normal map do the shading. You will yield far better results doing this.

I hope this goes somewhere further, I'm tired of seeing Valve-made content for maps that have no affiliation with a Valve game.
