I've used this program before, and I find this extremely helpful. Is there any chance of re-uploading the steam nicknames? It seems none of the links work anymore.
You know, you could always try PM-ing the OP for the link and not bumping a 2 month old thread.

No, this is a good thing. I get asked every other day where the friend manager thread is because apparently nobody knows how to use search, so keeping this up on the front page is good (even if the link no longer works ).

Sorry to make a huge bump, but this is broken again. I have some people I'd like to change the aliases of and a lot of people who need new aliases, so if you would be so kind as to update this...

I'll try to get an update out for people on the trade beta, but for now it should be working on the non-beta steamclient.

Ah, that's why. I haven't used the tool in a while, so I totally forgot about the trade beta possibly affecting it.

    Thanks, though.

Or not. Looks like there's was an old update within the trade beta that doesn't work with v0.4, but v0.3 works fine. Just try both until you figure out which one works.

You can't, it's actually a hidden feature built into Steam. The way it's formatted was done by Valve. All this program does is enable you to use it.

Works just fine for me. The only thing I'm noticing with it is in the nickname manager program, everyone is always shown as in-game, even if they're not even online. You can still set and remove nicknames just fine though.

From what I've gathered, it's an actual thing in Steam but you just can't access it through Steam. Voided's program just gives you access to it. I wonder why Valve never included the ability to actually use it in Steam.

I have a question. Is there any way to remove aliases set through your program now? Steam's function seems to store the alias separately from how you do it and the current version of your program gives me an exception error when I try to use the remove alias function.

This is the details of the error if it matters any:
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

I also need help to remove the nicknames I've set using this program. The program no longer works for me, It says "stopped working" when I try to launch the program. Anyone that can help? Maybe a file I can remove for the set nicknames?

EDIT: I solved this issue. I removed everything in my steam folder except steamapps and steam.exe. When I started steam again it installed steam itself and it's now fixed.

    It might be because of the Steam Beta I'm using. This is what I did;
-Used the Steam Beta Invite in my steam inventory.
-Went to the settings and enabled Steam Beta and then restarted Steam.

Now when I right click a friend I have an option called "Set nickname" or something like that.
