But what if the enemy's clip is near full, That would be just weird if they are dying and they fire off 27 rounds in every direction for every 1 in 3 enemies you kill.

Cloth folds =/= legs.
Hey Jlea for the darkness detection, you should add some randomness, because I can imagine how a couple guard soldiers sitting in the dark, would switch between alert and not really paying attention. So that would mean that whenever they are noticeably not paying attention, they're detection skills aren't as strong, but when you see them looking off into the distance attentively, you have to be more careful.
Oops, they fire 1/4 of their clip. My bad.
clipazines
Who cares if they are a clip or a magazine
That might make sneaking difficult if you stealth kill someone and they shoot randomly.
If you ask me, I think enemies should insta-ragdoll and fall down if they get shot in the head.
Sneak kills, head shots and Sniper kills exempt from the random shooting?
randomize pls
actually code incredibly detailed limp trigger finger physics to determine how many shots are fired
Why are you quoting me?
Valve calls the current weapon ammo m_iClip1 :smug:
Edited:
Moved the stealth code over to the CombatCharacter class, which means your NPC followers can now be "stealthed" if they havent fired a shot for a while + are crouched.
Yeah, valve, the same company that never gets the name of their shaders or texture maps correct.
They're so reputable in that department, lol.
Thanks for that, nobody would have understood what he was trying to say otherwise!
Please do this. I'm so tired of playing games where every single kill ends with the same animation you've seen 4567 times. If possible, have it be like a 20% chance an animation will play when you kill someone, sort of like TF2.
Or maybe blend the animation with the ragdoll, like L4D. Although I'm not sure how easy it would be. Would look great if shooting a running enemy and watching him stumble over and land on his face.
What's wrong with ragdolls? For wound animations, how about making them crawl for the nearest wall (just a vector or something) and slump against it?
ragdolls often look silly
A lot of ragdolls look too floppy and flail about unrealistically to look real. Generally, death animations followed by it turning to a ragdoll at the last moment look the best. Even in the case of a headshot death animation you'd be better off motion-capturing someone just falling to the ground because of how awful the ragdolls look on their down.
some games, like GTA4 did this ragdoll/animation thing really well, and it's been around in source since hl2 and css. the problem with source is that the ragdoll, as it animates, is very rigid, which looks unnatural.
also, i'm going to make as many death animations as i possibly can, to a certain degree of quality.
GTA4 used euphoria
pah, the coders this mod managed a bullet system and something to do with free aim, i'm sure a whole new physics engine shouldn't be too much, right coders?
but in all seriousness, getting a tweaked ragdoll system would be cool. not necessary, but cool.
i haven't been tracking the mod very closely to this point :\
Lets just buy the rights to CryEngine 3 and get a 300-man team to work full time on IS in a 40 story building.
I thought that if you shot someone through the brain it instantly shut off body functions so people would just crumple. The only reason I wouldn't like this in most valve games is because of how weird people with the human skeleton in HL2 looked on the ground. It just seemed unnatural.
I'd rather have Euphoria then CryEngine.
Euphoria isn't it's own game engine though, it's a physics/animation engine. You intergrate it into your own game engine you've made/bought. In the case of GTA IV, they used Rage. The Force Unleashed used a big mish-mash of Ronin, Havok, and Pixelux Entertainment's DMM. So technically it could be possible to have both Cryengine and Euphoria, though please correct me if I'm wrong.
Make sure that there is a 1 in 1000 chance you will get a death animation where the NPC will start doing Thriller.
The entire song, too
If you stick around until the end they drop a Super Epic Golden Mosin Nagant of Sex with +300% damage and accuracy and sex.
To make ragdolls less silly, increase their weight. The limbs are too light, thus they flair around a lot.
It's probably possible to use Endorphin for your animations instead of Euphoria. I've seen people import the Valve skeleton in there and make them look like they got shot or some shit. No fucking clue how to do such things, though.
well i felt like being obnoxious so no problem
Edited:
source's ragdolls are still better than a lot of games. bf2's arm flailing ragdolls for example
Is it bad that I'm more excited for this than Skyrim?
I've always wanted a really dynamic stealth game.

what the
Yes you can, but you need to buy endorophin if you want to export the animations. Otherwise it's illegal.
