Except boost has a limit and at that point you need a bigger engine hence the saying. Besides, there is a lot more to it then peak numbers, I have the most power etcetera...

fixed
Missed the point about it being street able and not running 40psi and blowing up after driving through your neighborhood. Besides there is a limit on the fuel available and even the amount of stress your block can take.
bigger engine, lol. There are guys making 800+ horsepower out of D16Z6's (1.6 liters of Honda beef) and still have lots of room to go on boost. I think the best I've seen is a sleeved D16Z6, stock bore and stroke, with rods, pistons, milled head, port and polish, Bisi level X cam, some huge injectors, in the 800cc range, titanium valves and bisi springs, I forget what turbo he was running but it was pushing out 42PSI, dyno'd out at 814~ horsepower.
Let me see if I can dig up one of his earlier dyno vids, he's got a few of him building this car up and it just got progressively better.
Edited:
If something is built right, it's going to be fine. The Civic I am talking about with the turbo Z6 at 42PSI with 800+ hp is a street driven car. Just like Bisi's Z6 Civic Wagon pushing a little over 700hp, it's his street car. *shrug*
You can always do more boost. You just have to prepare youranusblock for it, and use a good gasket/stud combo.
What about 100psi? 200? It has to be almost impossible at a point. I know what you're saying that you CAN make a killer small engine with just boost but 42PSI on a 6.0L is that much more (not that you would even have traction with just the 1.6), but I'm not saying you go all N/A and roll around with a 10.0L or something just that for example perhaps a slightly bigger engine than on that civic with less boost might have cost less overall, and been more reliable (maybe I don't know of anyone with either around here... until Friday). A nice push rod engine wouldn't be too much of a stretch in weight or dimensions either.
I'm off topic enough as it is now. All I was trying to say is that 'no replacement for displacement' still has meaning at the limit of boost not that boost isn't one of the best cost/HP ways to improve performance.
only solution is turbodiesel
Displacement is always better, yeah. But having the displacement with the lighter weight of smaller displacement and the same power is going to be a tank. smaller displacement forced induction will always outperform larger displacement forced induction when both are used in a car of the right weight and the right amount of grip. It's all a power-to-weight thing.
Having a bigger engine is like a dick swinging contest, you guys might have the biggest but in the end that is still one gay ass contest. I'll keep it in my pants.

Also turbo diesel is the shit, it's too bad they don't rev as high as petrol engines. If they did I would have switched to tractor gas years ago and never looked back.
Until then, I still love my exploding dinosaur juice. Have fun with your 4000 RPMs, I'll just chill up here at 8-9k.

awww yeah boyyyyy
You got the coolest truck ever
please give that door a bit of polish and a clear coat
The doors are junkyard doors, and other than the left Bed panel and right fender, it's pretty straight. Eventually i've got to get the grinder out and get rid of some surface rust on the cab though...

It's a Dodge Durango. We call it the "Red Hot One-Hundred" because it's Red, Hot as fuck (no air) and only gets one hundred miles before needing gas again! (not literally)

A Mitsubishi Eclipse! God I love this car so much.

Fucking love 8 series, how can you afford to run one over here?!
Often browse PH Classifieds for them but just know insuring and running one would be an absolute cunt.
