I think they're going for the "Gwen Stacy" Story before mary jane.

And the high school story before Jonah.

    Edited:

    I hope.
Yes they are, thank god. Oh and they better portray the Lizard good, they better not fuck this up because the Lizard is one of my favorite villains in Spider Man (since when I was a kid I had a huge liking to anything that was a reptile. (Godzilla, Godzilla 2000, the Lizard, Lizard Man [SoulCalibur], there's some others but I forgot them)

Stan Lee Reacts To The Amazing Spider-Man's New Web-Shooters

When Stan Lee is willing to spin a little Spidey history -- especially when offering his thoughts on the red-and-blue costume -- well, color us intrigued.

As Columbia Pictures on Monday announced the title of the fourth Peter Parker film -- director Marc Webb's reboot will answer to "The Amazing Spider-Man" -- the studio also released the first vivid image [above] of how Andrew Garfield's teched-out Spidey suit looks.

As geek reaction around the Webosphere appeared to run from mixed to positive, one never-ebbing webbing kerfuffle reared its head and wrist: Is Marc Webb right to go with the mechanized web-shooters?

In Sam Raimi's three Spider-Man movies starring Tobey Maguire, the film franchise decided to tinker with comic-book history and grant Peter Parker the biological powers to spin string -- as a result of that irradiated arachnid bite. That of course ran counter to the mythology dreamed up by writer-editor Lee and artist-writer Steve Ditko: When Peter Parker debuted in August of '62 -- in "Amazing Fantasy #15" -- the teen superhero armed himself with mechanical web-shooters that could run dry.

Speaking to Comic Riffs on Wednesday, Lee recalls the logic behind his mythology:

"The one thing I liked about Peter's web-shooters was the fact that they made him more vulnerable," Lee says. "At any crucial moment he could run out of web fluid and be forced to rely on his wits."

Not that Lee, who now heads up POW! Entertainment, had any issues with Raimi's physical decision:

"The organic webs which Sam Raimi gave him -- and which Jim Cameron also would have given him had he directed the first Spidey film -- certainly worked beautifully in the movie, and perhaps allowed for better special effects than my idea of limited webbing might have done."

Concludes Lee: "Actually, I'm happy with either interpretation."

Hopefully if this new version goes far enough to include venom in the sequels it most likely will have, they won't royally buttfuck him like in Spider-man 3.

I was cautiously hopeful for this movie when it was first announced, as I was a fan of the first reboot when I was young. But with the cast, shots from the set and costumes, and the fact that I now see it's going to be 3-D I'm now totally aware this is going to be a terribad typical generic action superhero flick designed to rake in bucks off of kids.

I have nothing against Kirsten Dunst, I think she's a great actress and I have a lot of respect for her.

It's just the character of Mary Jane was just so aggravating and unnecessary imo, that I would prefer the movie to not have her.

That, and I want Green Goblin in the original costume, although a bit less gay perhaps. They should hi-tech it up, but not overdo it like in the original film.

Oh and he totally should do the Throw-Gwen-Off-The-Bridge-And-Let-Spidey-Accidentally-Snap-Her-Neck-When-Trying-To-Save-Her thing.

    Possible spoilers ahead.

Spider-Man set leak teases the climatic final Spidey showdown

Marc Webb's high school-set Spider-Man reboot is currently filming, and a new set report suggests that the movie's showdown will be a lot more dramatic than the jazz-handed previous installment. Spoilers ahead...

The insider report comes from Big Fan Boy:

One of the primary important crew members (who shall remain nameless) recently let it slip to one of our readers (a trusted one at that) that many of the stunt actors in the film have been spending time in heavy make-up for hours on end because of a fight scene in the film where they're turning all the S.W.A.T. team guys into reptilian creatures.
That means minions! An entire S.W.A.T. team of them! We love minions, and usually the more minions there are, the fewer major villains there are to clog up the storyline and add unnecessary extra monologues. Sure, Irrfan Khan was just recently cast as Nels Van Adder but it's sounding as though he's primarily a background baddie (and we'll see more from him in future Spider-Man films). Instead armies of Lizard-faced minions will be storming the streets of New York, and that sounds like a lot of solid, comic book fun.
