Maybe it's just my undying hatred of Kirsten Dunst and Toby McGuire.

Regardless, this just looks so much more faithful to the comics.

Bad acting, yeah. But 2 was really the first comic-based movie that wasn't laughable and on top of it it was fucking great and a smash-hit. IMO 3 was good too, i don't understand peoples gripes.

But yeah, Toby certainly didn't reflect the real depth of the character. He was like too good at being flawless. This new guy seems to have the dark shit down... Along with the quips.

Also, Mary Jane was meant to be a strong-willed woman... Kirsten wasn't.

I actually rather like the design of the Lizard. I mean, in the old spidey comics he literally just looked like a giant crocodile, which to me isn't all that creative.

Really? I liked 2 quite a bit, but 3 was just godawful. Their interpretation of Spiderman's morals being affected by the suit was him getting an emo cut, thrusting his pelvis at women on the street, demanding that his landlord's daughter make him more cookies, and then performing choreographed musicals in local bars. And they also didn't do Venom right. Eddie Brock was supposed to be a beast of a body builder, not a jealous photographer. Not to mention Toby McGuire cried, and it made his face look hysterically ugly. Actually, that last bit was probably the highlight, because I actually laughed out loud in the theater when that happened, and that's supposed to be like the most tragic moment in the movie.

The suit part was horrific, yeah. But fuck! The end was great! I always liked when Spider-Man was working in a team with someone and i don't give a shit if they fucked up Harrys storyline, he went out with a bang.

You've got to give these films more credit. It was Spider-man 1 and the first X-Men that kicked off the spam of Hero-films we have these days. IMO nothing comes close to those two series though... well, Batman.

It was entertaining, I will definitely give it that. The special effects were top notch, and the action sequences were well made. But that's about all I can give to it, because it's things like that suit bit that really just invalidate any serious tone they were trying to achieve. I understand they were having a bit of fun with it... but why a musical? It defies the logic of reality that Peter Parker could walk into a bar, know the ins and outs of a band's jazz joint, and do a perfectly timed dance to it. It was just silly and unrealistic. It really looked like a scene from a musical, and it compromised the reality of the movie. I dunno, there were some good bits, some bad bits, but that bad bit in particular pretty much just put the nail in the coffin for me.

I'm trying to remember other bad parts so I don't sound like I have a one-track mind, but that part was so bad that it really just overshadows most of my memory about the movie.

Raimi's Spider-Man films did have fun fight scenes but that's about all I can say for them.

They completely botched the hero himself and the villains were all terrible.
And the side characters save for Jameson and Peter's Aunt and Uncle were horrible.

Doc Ock was perfectly cast with Alfred Molina but they gave him zero motivation to be doing what he was doing.

The Green Goblin was probably the most faithful villain except for the terrible costume, I actually would've preferred his sick Halloween costume from the comics, and his dialogue was nauseating.

And I'll just not speak of Spider-Man 3 since everything about that movie was just horrendous and wrong.

Well I briefly touched on that in my previous post. Not a whole lot to say about it though. Eddie Brock is supposed to be a beefy body builder, and Venom as a character is too fuckin awesome to only show up in the second half of a spiderman movie and then get killed off at the end.

But yeah, that was another huge killer for that film.

I'd love to see a movie centered around Venom in the style of the Venom comics. That shit was dope as hell. Of course I think the last time I read any of them was like 6th or 7th grade cause my friend at the time had a few of the first ones. I do recall them being pretty dark, and sometimes pretty brutal. One of my favorites was this one where he somehow ends up in a sewer after being in a fight with juggernaut, and he encounters some other sentient entity in the water down there, which binds with his suit and gives him the ability to grow a vast number of limbs at a time, among other amplified versions of abilities he already had.

In the first movie, a scientist that Peter Parker knows injects himself with an experimental drug and turns himself into a green monster that goes on a murderous rampage, while in this one, a scientist that Peter Parker knows injects himself with an experimental drug and turns himself into a green monster that goes on a murderous rampage."

Osborne himself was not much of a scientist. he was an engineer retired to businessman. Connors is a Biochemist which falls under the "mad hatter with a white robe" label.

But it's a cute article. Let's apply that logic more and we can all be that dry, old guy who's seen everything.

I hope they plan to include Ben Reilly further on.

Yeah it's a different story, but it's also kind of the same general story. I mean, yeah, if you really generalise it a lot. But I still think calling it 'THE UNTOLD STORY' is a bit of a stretch.

It's a dynamically changing thing. I mean, the whole thing was spread over the old trilogy, so it's in waves over the series. Sometimes he's a bro, at other times he's a motherfucker in their eyes.

Unlike Batman, he doesn't make a habit of working together with them, nor does he get access to their files and shit.

Not entirely, if they see him beating up some thugs they're all "Go Spidey go! But since he rarely sticks about after the Thugs are tied up, if something has been stolen, it's 2+2 to think "Maybe it's that guy in the tights?"

Also, Jameson detests Spiderman, the Raimi films got that much right. I really wanted to see Peter deck Jamesons son in the 2nd film, was great in the comics.

Also, I like how Spiderman actually looks Strong in this film, in the Raimi ones, he seldom did anything that suggested he's able to Bench-Press 10 Tonnes, but when he snaps the cuffs in the Trailer, hurrah!
