I suck at piping
Yeah that's what mine looks like after a really bad curry.
I followed this guide but I altered the recipe a bit.
I wasn't able to find the "Golden Syrup" mentioned in the recipe so I just left it out. For the crust I used 1.5 boxes of "Nilla" brand wafers (they are vanilla cookies) which I crushed in a blender. I melted down two sticks of butter and mixed it with the crushed wafers to form a loosely held together mixture which I pressed into the bottom of a 9"x13" baking pan. I put the baking pan with the crust into the refrigerator to cool whilst I worked on the other two components.
The sauce was perhaps the trickiest part of the recipe. I poured one can of condensed milk into pot which I set to a low temperature so the fluid would simmer. To that I added a stick of butter and 3/4 of a cup of sugar. I mixed it thoroughly, let it darken for awhile, then I turned off the heat. I brought out the baking tray from the fridge and poured an even coating of the creamy mixture onto the crust made earlier. I put the tray back into the fridge after that.
Melting the chocolate wasn't as difficult as I thought it might be. Since American milk chocolate has a bit of a bitter aftertaste I decided to use a 1:1 ratio of milk and white chocolate. I brought a new pot of water to a boil and put a large bowl on top of it so the steam was contacting the base of the bowl. Then I poured in the chocolate bit by bit stirring it as I went. When the texture was fairly smooth I brought the baking pan out of the refrigerator and quickly poured out the chocolate mixture onto it. Even in its heated state the mixture was reluctant to leave the bowl so most of it had to be scraped out manually. With the chocolate evenly spread across the pan I put the whole thing back in the fridge and waited a few hours for the finished product.
Overall I was quite pleased with the result; the crust held together nicely, the sauce had the right consistency, and the chocolate crust was delicious. The only thing I might add next time around would be some vanilla flavoring to the sauce.
Today I made something despicably unhealthy - a bacon-weave-wrapped, cheddar-cheese-infused, corned-beef-hash-stuffed burrito. I don't think I'll ever make something like this again, but it was a learning experience.

Don't have a picture handy, but just made around 5 gallons of damn-good chili.
Is it really spicy? If so, good on you.
Does anyone eat vegetables? Come on. They're fucking awesome too!
i love vegetables! and fruit. bought myself a smoothie maker yesterday!
I wanna try juicing but fruit is damned spensive 'round here.
so long as you're not too fussy there's a lot of stuff available here in the UK, and it's not all that expensive either. i'm lucky enough to live in a very multicultural part of london, so a lot of the local shops have foreign fruits from all over the world, for cheap!
also it's a blender, not a juicer. i think it's better to blend the fruit down with all it's fibre than using a juicer, which will eliminate all the fibre and other possible nutrients that there are in the skins etc. but i mean like apple and peach skins, not banana or kiwi - that'd be weird.
I used to make banana and strawberry smoothies all the time. Greatest blend ever.
It has a nice amount of kick.
Going to have a go at these sometime
I really needto cook more now that I live alone but damn I am tight on budget :(
so i've attempted a home version of Innocent's kiwis, apples & limes smoothie
1 apple
1 slice of pineapple
1/2 kiwi (i used a full one since they were quite small)
5 grapes
lime juice
this was the outcome
the biggest problem is that i didn't skin the apple (skins are good for you!) and i didn't know the grapes were seeded. so it's a little lumpy and bitty, which isn't the greatest. but i can change it for the next time i do it!
all these smoothies are killing my mouth though, i've got so many ulcers at the moment ugh. tasty though!!
Just made spinach with cooked potatoes and a sunny side egg.
Oh god that sounds good x_x
interesting thread this one. it's strange that i haven't found my way to the cooking forum before. if i got the idea right the point of this is to make food, take pictures and post them. i'm missing out on the finished product, but i have some "wip" shots of the food being made.
so this is a plaice stuffed with lime slices, red onion and thyme just before we put it in the oven.
and some clams that we had for starters.
with this we had some bleak roe and cream sauce, potatoes and of course some greenery. everything was delicious. i shall try to take more pics of the finished food next time.
some more food. this time i didn't really get any good captures of the actual cooking. i was simply too tired, too lazy and too hungry to try to take any splendid pics let alone cook something i'd serve to friends.
like i said i was lazy and tired, so something quick for starters was the only real option.
and since we were so hungry, nothing that took time was on the menu. chicken, some mangold salad with some red onions, simple cream sauce, and some cherry tomatoes.
i would have had some wine for this but eeeh... beer was closer at hand.
Seems so homey...
