That mod was ridiculously long and hard.
That mod was ridiculously long and hard.
garry's mod
![]()
SSH Mod Messup, although to be fair I'm not entirely sure if it's the worst mod I've played or the best.
Does I Hate Mountains count? Awful, overdetailed confusing levels with literally no lighting and they even added arrows to help you get around and I still got lost a ton. I was physically ill at the end of playing it, no joke.
My god this looks like shit

Is NeoTokyo still alive? That game was fun.
I remember a Revolutionary War mod that wasn't very fun.
To be honest, it wasn't even hard. It was just terribly coded because I can recall several times where the map would not let me progress and I waited for 20 minutes or so until the level allowed me to progress.
Not to mention they added shitty cutscenes which play like shit in the game (animations are all borked and just don't look right because they show Gordon Freeman, whose main character trait is not being seen).
I recently installed Portal-Life.
The horror...
Melons Vs Combine 2
The beginning was promising and the overall get in and get out pacing was interesting, but it became just so horrible after just a few levels.
I mean some of the levels were so badly desinged. There was this one level, where I was blocked by a fence.
Well apparently if I just would've pressed E, the fence would slide out of the way.
What the hell?
Battlegrounds. It was fun for line battles but the one shot reload mechanic made unorganized team death matches kind of a bore.
Actually I've just played through 1187 again and it's fucking terrible.
Also stupid reskins,
sniper rifle that fires crossbow bolts.
DERRRRRRRRRRRRP
Obsidian Conflict (community sucks)
Human Error (a lot of glitches, crappy voices and models)
Half the existing "SMOD" mods
Provenance (all looks, no good gameplay)
Underhell, mainly because i can't get it to stop lagging, even on all lowest. Unoptimized piece of shit.
Once i found something that was about 80% Gmod ripoff. It was horrible.
Cant remember the name though.
Maybe it's bolt action :smug:
Well they do sort of explain why they're after you and how it relates to the zombies near the end... But then they make you fight a boss that has absolutely nothing to do with anything you've previously encountered.
And then a "wtf" ending that leaves many questions unanswered.

The Island aka Dead Sector: Source.
It's "simple". The final boss is your clone, who you managed to outsmart before, prompting him to release the virus and send out those soldiers. Also, those giant meat monsters are probably generic demons, considering the last time you see them in the end, right in front of the god damn Eye of Sauron.
Still doesn't really explain the Icthyosaur, though.
JBmod?
Fistful of Frags felt really clumsy and was annoying to play.
Zombie master: confusing, laggy, ugly and not fun.
Research and Developement: everyone was circlejerking over it because of the pretty and detailed levels. I don't recall why exactly I hated it so much, but I guess it was the poor level design, invisible walls and glitches all over the place. The puzzles were average.
Age of Chivalry: Like PVK, but combat was a lot more limited. It was intended for too many players, pings were so high that you couldn't do anything but spam attack and hope to hit something.
Mistake of Pythagoras: Despite the blocky environments I liked how the game looked. However it was slow paced and I often got stuck not knowing what the mod wanted me to do. Crashes became frequent later in the mod and eventually prevented me from proceeding.
BM:S Leak
Either that, or Dear Esther. Moving 0.1 MPH/KPH sucks.
Edited:
Go-Mod for HL1?
If it IS JBmod, it came out first.
research and developement was fucking amazing and the level design is great what the fuck is wrong with you
BMS Leak is broken more than before since the May 2009 update.
Go play it, you'll lol.
Edited:
never
shall you
dare talk about zombie master like that
The worst Source mod I ever played was DIPRIP. It's not bad, I guess. I just didn't like it.
In my opinion, DIPRIP didn't do car combat right - it tried to make it class-based, rather than per-vehicle basis.
Insurgency was a boring, tasteless mod based off of the war between Americans and Iraqi's. But since there's no story, no plot, and no competent voice acting, the game basically boiled down to a multiplayer deathmatch.
Also, you shouldn't be able to snipe someone with a fucking shotgun.
Shotguns shouldn't be completely ineffective past 5 feet. Video game shotgun spread is fucking ridiculous.
Zombie Master is probably my favorite mod of ALL TIME.
I never had so much fun before in my entire life. The feeling when only few are alive and you make it to the end is so badass + teamwork and mic on every second player makes the mod 90% better.
Edited:
You're so wrong.
YOU probably spammed attack but actually people use parry all the time.
The only problem I have with the mod is constant crashing.
Research and Development was an amazing mod in virtually all aspects. It had beautifully engineered environments so good that could've been taken RIGHT out of a Half-Life episode, fairly challenging (without combat), very original and surprising and with a fair bit of humor in it. Not a single seesaw puzzle in it, either!
I loved Zombie Master when I tried it a few years ago in its early development stages; I only stopped because back then it had a very small community and not that many good maps. It has a feeling pretty similar to L4D (and is technically quite similar overall, except the AI Director is human). Not sure what its current state is though.
you die in a room for of neurotoxins
Just like in Portal: Prelude.![]()
How the hell can you even actually shoot, your camera shakes so much, I thought the mod is about earthquakes or something.
I quite enjoyed The Island. I played it years ago, but it was a fun little romp at the time.
The pitch-black corridors were a bit cheap but I remember being quite frightened sitting alone in the dark waiting for my flashlight to recharge. I figure it was just because I was younger then, and still found Headcrabs Zombies scary.
Fuck you combine destiny was the shit.
I thought JBmod came before garry, actually didn't garry get some inspiration from jbmod? (I could be wrong)
Unless you like turd on your face, then yes.
JBMod came out before Garry's Mod.
It did. JBmod as a Source sandbox mod is actually significantly older than GMod, yet lost the tech race horribly. You know the Leafblower? It's a bit of a signature JBmod tool; I bet my pants that Garry implemented the near-identical GMod tool just for the sake of flipping off JB fans![]()
A month older isn't significantly older.
