Indie rock is a vague term used to identify rock artists that are or were unsigned, or have signed to small record labels, rather than major record labels.

However of course, who cares about dictionary definitions? Indie rock is a term used only by “unique individualistic” high school hipsters-in-training to describe their music tastes post-Linkin Park/pop-punk days. Since anyone with half a brain can think of better ways to describe their music rather than simply tagging it “indie rock” or “alternative”. When indie fans aren’t too busy sucking Radiohead’s cock, they’re sucking Neutral Milk Hotel’s. The more obscure the better, fuck, I seem to have misplaced my lenseless glasses!

I've found it better to have a separate phone and music/video player. Currently I have this combo:

Combined they are a lot cheaper than HTC Desire Z or iPhone and they have a lot better battery life since I can turn the music player completely off when it's not in use. Best decision I've ever done when buying any device.

Only problem is that the Archos 43 has a resistive screen, so it's not very good and can therefore not be used for gaming. Not that I would play games on a phone anyway. The screen resolution and quality is amazing though.
