I'm typing on my Wii, so I can't grab anything like newegg links as the opera browser can't copy and paste.
Yesterday I finally finished building my new computer. It is the first 64 bit comp I have had(Along with it being around 70 times faster then my old garbage). I'm using my old 160GB hard drive and I planned to do a format of my entire hard drive and install windows 7. When I boot up windows 7 however, I get the error "hal.dll is missing or corrupt". I looked around the internet and none of the fixes worked(The only one I didn't try was to boot up Windows XP first, because I don't have my XP disc anymore). If I boot up the version of XP on the computer right now, it starts but my wireless keyboard and wired mouse aren't supported for some reason(probably because of the new hardware), so I can't do anything on it(I lost my keyboard's driver disc too). If I boot up Ubuntu, my moniter shuts off with the "no signal" warning. Since I haven't gotten around to learning the command line in Ubuntu, recovery mode is not a possibility either. My only guess is a damaged hard drive, but I carefully placed it out of my old computer when I needed it, and placed it back in just as carfully(didn't touch the bottom or anything).
Any help appreciated. Probably should go in Technical support but It's mostly a Windows error so I thought it should go here.
My only idea to fix this is to place the hard drive back in the old computer, boot up ubuntu or windows and format from there, but getting the hard drive in was a huge hassle and I don't want to move it much.

Reinstall Windows 7.

Reinstall, get a Samsung spinpoint F3.

Can't afford a new hard drive at the moment, so I'm going to try to reinstall. I'm downloading gparted right now to format the entire hard drive, then I'll try to start up windows 7.

The hard drive is fine, for some reason Windows decides to be a dick when I place it into my new case(I can boot up Linux and Windows perfectly fine if it's in the old one).

Well what the hell, formatted the entire drive to free space and I get the same error. Gonna try this while changing it to two 80GB NFTS partitions.

Serious problem, and I'm sorta pissed because everything on google about this problem relates to if you HAVE windows on your hard drive and one day it gives you this error.

Alright I burned a recovery console disk for Windows 7 64 bit, but booting it gives me a "no signal" on my moniter.

Your original error of not having hal.dll on your Windows instlation indicates to me that you need to use the repair utility on the Windows CD or just straight up reinstalling Windows 7 since hal.dll is needed to boot.
Boot into a Linux live CD and get hal.dll from another Windows 7 instlation and then put it on a removable storage device, and then transfer it into the relivant folder in Windows (system32, I think) through the Linux live CD, wouldn't that work?
