THIS THREAD IS LOOKIN' A LITTLE BORING - SUGGEST WHAT I SHOULD DO TO MAKE IT SPIFFY IN THE THREAD!

PM ME IF YOU WANT A TEXTURE PACK IN THE OP OR IF A TEXTURE PACK UPDATES!
It would help me a lot!

Discuss texture packs, post progress on WIPs, and do all other texture pack related stuff here.

Get the High Resolution Patcher here!
Current minecraft version: 1.8.1, but since the last blocks were added on 1.8, any of those are supported.

    [release][h2]CRITERIA FOR THIS THREAD[/h2]

    1. Should be pretty original. SMP revival is a good example of this.
    2. Cannot be a "mini version" of an existing pack. DokuCraft Mini is a prime example.
    3. Creator can't be an asshole (to me, specifically).
    [/release]
    [release]MC Texture Pack status:
    1. Were new blocks/items added to the terrain/items.png in the latest update? 2. Can I use the previous version texture packs on the current version?
    1. YES. 2. NO. Do not use the un-updated 1.7 packs unless you update them yourself!

Will the next update include new blocks/items?
    1.9. Yes!
    [/release]

    [release][h2]FAQ[/h2]

How do I install a pack?
If it's 16x, drop the zip file in your texture pack folder, which you can open via the "mods and texture packs" screen inside minecraft.

    What if it is over 16x? (IE 32x, 64x, 128x, 256x)

Download the patcher from this thread, and run it.
Click patch (you may or may not want to disable BetterGrass by ticking it's box, it doesn't look right with some packs).

HD Patcher allows for all sizes to work with the in-game texture pack selector.

What happens if I install a pack that isn't updated to the current version of minecraft?
Any blocks that have their own textures and were added or modified on the new version will be invisible or look wrong. (For example, redstone will look like a weird purple square and beds won't show up or be all purple.)
Usually this thread will tell you if it has been updated.

I quite like Faithful 32x. It's almost exactly like the vanilla textures but 32x instead of 16x. I switch between it and Gerudoku from time to time.

I switch between Xaiwaker and Painterly a lot, depending on my mood.

Though I have a question: Why do some texture packs glitch up? Like, some items have messed up transparency. For example, sometimes the egg sprite has a big white bar on the top, or the cactus has black bars on the side.

Panthereye, Last Days is 100% up to date for the most part, but it's a work in progress. The only things wrong that i've noticed is that the Gravel is a placeholder from Glimmar's Steampunk (which has been acknowledged), the bed, while having a world design, has no icon, and that bowls have no icon yet.

Not like they're very useful as it stands, though.

    It's "Xaiwaker", not "Xaiwalker".
Also, I think you should be more objective in some of the skins, especially the higher resolution ones. I don't like them either, but things like "Photo Realism: Nothing good to say about it." should have no place here.

The only good thing in that texture pack is the grass, others are too pixelated close up, maybe minecraft should implement a feature such as the one google earth uses (ie the texture pack gets clearer the closer you get, ie 1024x1024 close up, falling off to 32x32 a few blocks away, with 16x16 far away

Actually, my favorite texture in the pack is the netherrack. With the shader mod installed it looks slimy and gross, which is what I always imagined it to be, kind of a substance made of blood and bone or something.

This makes for a pretty awesome effect in the tunnels I have running all around the nether between encampments.
