Space Engine is a procedural universe generator and exploration simulator that allows you to view incredible scenery and explore the vastness of space right from your own computer! You can fly around the universe at any speed, observing galaxies, stars, planets, nebulae, and even exotic stellar objects like black holes, pulsars, and neutron stars! The developer has also expressed wishes to integrate the ability to find randomly generated astro-engineering constructs (Think Halo, or Ringworld. Dyson Spheres are in this category as well.) Every planet in the simulation is unique, having been procedurally generated each time you explore the same system. The game also contains real systems, objects, and planets. This means you can explore nearby star systems, as well as those we may not even have discovered yet! You can approach planets to view their landscapes from the surface as well!

Space Engine's interface is extremely easy to use. Just click where you want to go, and press 'g' to move to it! Double tap the 'g' key to travel faster. You can also move your viewpoint using the WASD keys and mouse.

Just remember that it's still in beta, so a lot of features are upcoming, and it does still have some bugs to work out! (I miss the giant perfectly cubic star clusters myself )

I'm wondering if the flare effect around that blue sun in the OP is just a sprite or actually 3d.

I found Pandora... It is around the Alpha Centauri gas giant named Polyphemus like the movie, I don't think its a coincidence. Finding it was an accident tho, I clicked on the Saturn moon named Pandora in the system browser but it took me to the planet instead

You do need both, after downloading both, extract them, then copy your data folder from Space Engine 0.84b to the .90 mini directory
I just copied the .90 files over top the .84. And it works fine. Other then the random crashes that I don't think are related to that.

for anyone unfamiliar with Astrology if you want to find Galaxies either use wikipedia or in the program search for anything with the name "M #" they will either be galaxies or Star clusters.

Has anyone found any procedural planets that have "life" in the description, I've found plenty of Terra like planets, but not any yet that have life in the description.

    Edited:

I like how graphics engine the has realistic bouncing light, look how Mars and lights up Deimos

Mars' texture looks better quality then Earth's

    Edited:

Also I'm sad there are no planets around 40 Eridani. That is where Reach (Halo) and Vulcan (Trek) are.

    Edited:

A shot from a moon I found with Life, 40 Markent.
