HRRRG. Still getting 0.40 FPS with procedural generation. It's fucking intolerable. Is it just me that's getting that every time you go closer to a planet?

It happens when I go near a planet, but it only lasts for 1-2 seconds and then it's smooth until I visit another planet.

For me, it does it every time I change my view of a planet, or try and zoom in closer to it. Almost like its not generating the entire planet, just the bits I can see.

Someone should make one of those videos where you zoom out from the surface, and in the end the user realises how small the planet he were on actually was.

so how does this compare with opensource Space simulator Celestia ? http://www.shatters.net/celestia/
note: latest builds are from dev forum only http://www.shatters.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=4

which has many high quality addons for visuals

    SE-PUS - looks quite nice ... but i assume it's not opensource ;(

It's a lot like Celestia, but with randomly generated planets and stars (and more buggy-ness)

Menkent 40, A life supporting moon of a gas giant.

Although it was right in between two stars the moment I found it, So it didn't have full darkness at "night"

It's also dusty as hell during the day.

God this thing is bloody awesome, I also found a planet that took 29 thousand earth years to orbit it's sun.

Nothing but icecaps and a few islands on this planet.

I shall name this one goat world.

Just look at all those mountains.

Too bad you can't see this view on that planet, what with all those clouds.

I think it's kinda realistic that way. Look at Europa, if the gas giant was closer to the sun it would be a waterworld instead of the icy moon with a huge ocean beneath the crust that it is today. We've already discovered a fuckton of gas giants orbiting other stars, and I bet most of them have moons.

Was searching jazz on spotify, and chose a random song (it isn't actually jazz mind you). It was awesome cruising around the universe listening to it :buddy:

    Made a video with it.

Song is called Birth Of A Star, made by Goddamn Electrical Bill. Thought it fit very well.

Like Mass Effect 2 style info. Also this game makes me wish our solar system was more interesting. It would be sick for earth to be orbiting a Gas giant in a binary star system. Then every few years we would pass through the rings of the gas giant, and the sky would light up from the crystals burning in the atmosphere.

    Is not the case though.
