How on earth do I play the farm survival map? I tried mining but there's only dirt, dirt and more dirt.

I made it like that because there were some small caves that linked to the surface. It's only 12 layers, its always been like that.

Just play it, it's meant to be simple, but a lot of people liked it after playing it, please, just give it a try..

Okay without further ado, here's what I have to show for the past while.
I present to you, Polly's Farm Fortress
I started off in the the obsidian room, read the rules and the challenges and rushed out and grabbed the items in the chest. I quickly leveled the tree and planted all the saplings. I kept the wood for later and started mining a lot of dirt. I made a little mud shack against the wall to protect against the coming night. (Incredibly shitty picture but you can see it on the right)
What I saw during that night:
During the night I cowered in fear and made a craft bench, and constructed a few wood tools. The next day I set out for part of the map and made a little staircase going down to stone level (did not go outside bedrock wall). I went through a pickaxe and upgraded to stone tools, acquiring quite a few cobble in the process and luckily finding a vein of coal! After tending to my trees, I headed for the frozen river in a journey to acquire sand for windows. I blocked off a section of the river and the water in it, and mined the content's sand. I went back to my shitty (literally) looking shack and tore out the dirt walls, expanding it a little with cobble. It was about this time night fell. I made a furnace and smelted the sand using some of the coal I discovered earlier and made windows for my house and quickly made torches with the extra coal and some charcoal I made from the wood. All this while, grass was growing a tremendous rate. I hadn't yet planted my single seed, but kept in a chest with some other valuables.
My tree farm grew quite big all this time, and I hunted out fallen skeletons in the morning for bone meal to accelerate their growth. I decided to use a large amount of wood to create a fence around my house and on the roof, and make half blocks to prevent spiders from accessing my roof. This took a few days of work to collect the wood and make it into fences/half blocks and place it on my fort. After that was completed, I ripped out the shabby mud floors and replaced it with wood to ease the pain on my eyes. I ventured around the area and found a patch where a lot of grass had grown in the opposite corner in a tundra biome. I saw a sheep! Then subsequently killed it and luckily got 3 wool and made a bed for my fortress.
Here is the fortress as it stands currently, I will get started on the wheat farm very soon, and it will be a large one! I will also expand the mines below and search for iron and more coal, and probably diamond while my crops are growing.

It would be nice if the map had some hills and a lake, not just a river crossing it

Why would it have hills and a lake? It's supposed to be a farm map so having flat land and a river for irrigation makes sense.

Well, I like the concept of of the farm map, maybe spice it a little? Like you need to use your shovel to make the the soil flat so you can farm there

Hm not bad. Maybe the challenge is to start in the house, make some tools and a little dirt shack, then clear the hills and make farmland?

And to nukle?? Well, it was meant to be flat I guess for the challenge, because if it was all grass, it'd be too easy at the start..
If I made it into dirt, it would look odd and probably be annoying, that is why I made it flat

oh and sorry if this is a bump but I updated my map and I want the whole of FP to know that I did so they can try it out and enjoy my content

also dirt isn't 12 layers anymore, its about 5 layers thick (yes I fixed that fucked up amount of dirt replacing your precious coal now dont you whine, boy)

Honestly if you have nothing good to say don't fucking say it until you've AT LEAST played the map.
And if you've played the map don't be so damn ignorant if you don't find it appealing to your liking. Give me tips on what to do, suggestions, what to improve, etc.
Don't just say "this map sucks you suck you should quit mapping kthnxbye".

I've updated Farm Survival to 7.0 (if you guys dont give feedback/download/always make the thread die I'm just going to stop updating since its a waste of time then)
Changelog:
- It is now impossible to surface beyond the bedrock walls (mining not limited)
- Added a treasure room (It's about fucking time)
So yeah, download away guys

You'll probably get a bigger following on the MinecraftForums. I'll have to try the Farm map out sometime though, I like that idea.

I've got a posting suspension on the MCForums
Today there's been two maps that look like rip-offs of mine, yet they get more feedback.
And I've been updating since 1.3_01, I don't see much people updating their maps for that long either.
The MC Forum thread is on 6.0, and I can't update it until the 5th.
And +, It's only about 2-5 new posts until the thread dies again.

Well only one person ain't really going to help (not trying to be mean)
No one posts feedback, suggestions, or anything.
So it feels like it's just dead when it really isn't.
If people posted more it'd feel more like that it was more-so alive.
Like 4 people did lets plays on my map, most stopped on 2-4th episode.
That was a while ago, no one is doing lets plays on the newest versions either.
Their lets plays were all on version 2, from like April, or May.

The no-sunlight map is worth a try. It could make some good lets plays.
