I wish there could be more than 7 dwarfs in a starting part, hell just bumping the number up to 10 would help greatly.
7 Rings were given the the Dwarf Lords, in the expedition to the Mines of Moria, it was Balin and 6 other Dwarves.

I remember someone saying on the Bay12 forums that when in doubt, it's probably based on Lord of the Rings.

When somebody becomes a vampire during world gen, which still happens via the profaning mechanism for the next few days, they now feed on people within their town, causing their deaths. The ones I've got now all pass for their original creature type and still maintain all of their original positions. I've set up a little reputation profile now for these historical figures vs. the site entities, and it tracks the number of unsolved murders as well as the year they first appeared at the site after stopping the aging process. It'll periodically look at the number of weeks without aging and the number of murders and compare that to the population. The smaller the population, the more likely suspicion arises. At that point they can flee to another site where they are unknown or, lacking options, retreat to the wilds (or the sewers/catacombs once I do the sunlight tag, which I haven't finished yet). We're going to work a bit more with that -- hopefully we can see immortality cults and vampire tyrants willfully feeding on terrified subjects where we're beyond suspicion in rare instances. We'll see what happens tonight.

I have no idea why some people get hate/get rid of their soapmakers, I am constantly trying to produce soap most of the time, and the whole water/lye bucket thing gets annoying.

Also anyone else having problems turning plant fiber into thread? It keeps on spitting error reports at me.

Toady still needs to make guts a separate object when they're exposed, so you could strangle people with their own guts/your guts.

Or maybe he did and I'm behind with the times.

What kind of yellow are you talking about, just arbitrary yellow names or "Oh god my arms are melting" yellow?

I'd recommend getting a dormitory up ASAP when making a fortress, have your carpenter working on beds outside while the miners dig it out (you could make that into the barracks once you start making proper bedrooms.)

Ok hit cave layer three and found sweet, sweet cotton candy, but my primary concern at the moment is magma. I will be constructing a pumpstack with 3x3 chambers to decrease fpsdeath. Should I get dwarves to man(dwarf?) the pumps or should I try setting up power, I am also not too keen on using infinity motion machines or other such nonsense, but I might if using windmills and waterwheels from the surface is too big of a clusterfuck. Any ideas?

I don't see how it's unrealistic, as I would say manning a pump for an extended amount of time would make you quite strong.

We should restart that succession game Antary started a year ago. That was fun.

Until Antary showcased that his methods of forming a story were lackluster after I kicked it off with a group of convicts as the original 7. Then things went downhill.

What should they worship? I say they worship the Hidden Fun Stuff and learned about them from all the engravings in abandoned fortresses depicting stuff trapped under the ground.

They could worship plump helmets and booze. The fort could be entire levels dedicated to the mass production and sale of holy booze.

The fort would need a grand temple where booze can be sacrificed to the booze god and heretics(non-booze drinkers) are burned in a holy alcoholic fire.

Imbo Trussedringed was born in the year 8. At the tender age of 23, he became the high priest of Kas, the god of storms and lightning, in the capital Calmgroove after the first high priest was burned up in dragon fire. A few years later, he got married and over the next many years fathered six children. Aside from a run-in with a troll attacking the city, times were uneventful, until the year 53. Profaning his own temple, Kas cursed him to prowl the night in search of blood. After eight years of fairly unrestrained murder in the capital, he fled in the year 63 to the village of Brimstools, where he bled one person before moving on with settlers to eight different villages, working as a fishery worker or a scout, scores of victims left in his wake.

Finally he arrived in Scarrub in the year 103, having outlived his wife and all of his children. Over the next two decades he killed a dozen people. Villagers began to become suspicious at his lack of aging, but he enticed them with the promise of immortality to join the Sect of Control, a cult he had founded to cover up his misdeeds. This allowed him to last until the year 137, when his agelessness and forty murders made village life untenable. With the support of his followers, he challenged the law-giver Melbe Leaguemuscle to a duel in the capital city, winning easily. People recognized him as the former high priest and were shocked at his 129 years of life, but before it could come to anything he laid down a series of oppressive edicts, and for the next 15 years ruled as a tyrant, having his dinner brought to him from all of the towns and hamlets of the Realm of Names. He only partook every week or two, but by the end, over the century of the curse, seven hundred seventeen people were dead. The dragon only ever got fifty.

In bug news, the zombies in a necromancer's tower became suspicious after the necromancer failed to age and he fled into the hills.
    That bug, lmao

    They'd worship Adamantine, of course.

Fortress megaproject is a massive temple built out of precious metals and obsidian/flux, with a large chair (think Lincoln Memorial size) composed entirely of Adamantine.

Would this curse be the one where we spend several days debating over who will start the fortress and the order of players proceeding after, only for the very first or second person to never pass along and/or finish the save, thus breaking the legacy and putting all supposed players into a great big slump?

Well, I started the first one. It was kinda fun making up the whole story of how the expedition leader is a massive megalomaniac who killed off a third of the fort within the first hour.

    Exactly.

It's always the third or fourth player that, "can't do it due to time constraints."

All the succession games fail because people take forever to play their turns or fuck up the save file or some shit. If we were to do this each player would have only 2 days to complete their turn or they're skipped.

Edit: Also, Succession threads in the let's play subforum are always forgotten, I don't know if this is against the rules, but I think it would be best if the game is kept in the megathread.
