80s hardcore has much broader influence and more groove. NYHC got rid of most of that

I could listen to this guy all day
Have you seen his show? I've seen the first couple episoded, couldn't find the rest though
Leathermouth - Murder Was The Case They Gave Me
I don't think it lasted very long, did it? I prefer the spoken word albums anyway
The Ghost of A Thousand is hardcore punk right?
sorta math rock fused with hardcore punk
They made two seasons, but it got canceled afterwards. In the episodes I've seen, he interviewed Oliver Stone and Chuck D (Public Enemy). Interesting interviews, I must say.
I don't know whether this thread is just for hardcore or if that's just what you guys are mostly talking about, but Against Me! is pretty danged amazing. In studio and live.
I think it's for all types of punk apart from Pop Punk and that kinda shit.
Nothing's wrong with pop punk, just bad pop punk.
To me, it seems that the most recent hardcore bands have followed a heavier approach
Meaning that, it's mainly really hard driving power chords and more of a chugging rhytmn to them
To me, I find that modern hardcore seems a little heavier and I like that, but I'm obviously not going to discount the 80s hardcore
I'm trying to see them both from different perspectives, but I'm going to explore all the best 20th century hardcore bands before going any further
No use building an opinion of all the modern stuff

man I write responses in a sentence form
holy fuck why do I do this
If Rancid isn't punk then I have lost hope in humanity
not hardcore punk, but def. punk.
Not every modern hardcore band are following heavier, the whole melodic hardcore scene (NOT a day to remember etc) are not that heavy in fact.
I'm just basically saying what is said at the top of the OP.
Well anyway some more music.
Nobody ever said rancid wasn't punk.
dat Jim Carroll spoken part in Junkie Man :allears:
I understand
I just tend to say something is a genre when it's a comepletely different one.
One time I called Deadmau5 Drum and bass. But that was a LONG time ago.
modern life is war - marshall town.
nope all pop punk sucks. the queers and the vandals etc are not pop punk

melodic hardcore with ska punk influence. first record and 2000 record are my favorites. great basslines. out come the wolves is a bit overrated
Edited:
early NYHC/crossover thrash
and 90s NYHC
they disagree
bad religion too melodic? great band.
Singer's gonna teach a semester on a university, starting August.
Would a discussion involving Refused count in this thread? Or is this primarily Hardcore Punk chat here?
I think I'm going to like this thread
Not really hardcore, but any of you guys now Jawbreaker / Jets To Brazil. Great band, blake's the man.
as I said before I'm pretty sure nearly anything punk related.
everything up to like 1991
against the grain and all that shit is so cheesy but you know whatever
gotta fucking love "how could hell be any worse?"
Edited:
anything that isn't pop punk or rise against shit
the word 'melodic hardcore' is the most horrible thing ever and that's why none of those bands should be related to hardcore. hardcore isn't meant to be melodic; i hate to sound cliche and cheesey but it's about politics, emotions, unity, morals etc, not about being melodic.
pop punk is what you are thinking about. melodic just means more emphasis on melody in a way rather than pure shouting with no sense to it. think propagandhi
I think melodic hardcore is pretty cool, if you've got a problem with it then don't listen
Was introduced to punk rock and hardcore when I was 11, back in 1995. First song I heard was Black Flag's Rise Above. And holy shit, did it change my life. Punk has influenced me into the person I am today. I wouldn't know about 80% of the shit I do now if it weren't for it.
I like poppunk.
You are a cancer on this thread
Make a thread then, you're not wanted here.
Casualties and Exploited up in this bitch
yes git oot
The worst part about hardcore is all the local bands with names like "Crying For Daisy" or "Cut my soul"
they aren't hardcore
That's what all the posters say
the only punk rock band i like is good charlotte
but my mom doesn't let me listen to them because they are too bad
