READ THE RULES BEFORE YOU POST SUGGESTIONS! Check through the thread to prevent posting duplicates. Finally, try to stay away from posting series together
[release]
There are thousands of movie top lists from different sources, like the popular IMDB Top 250, or Empire's "500 Greatest Movies of All Time". Even sites like Reddit have their own top lists, so I see no reasons why Facepunch can't come together for once and create our own. We may not exactly be professional critics, but everyone here has an opinion and really likes to show it.[/release]
    [release]
Ranking System
The easiest way to create the list would be to use the forum ratings. An Agree will be a +1 while a Disagree will be a -1. ALL OTHER RATINGS WILL NOT BE COUNTED! Basically, a person posts a movie they think is worthy of being added to the list and people vote on it. The actual ranking of the list will be based on which movies have the most points. For this to actually work, each individual post would obviously need to be kept to only one movie suggestion, but people can suggest as many movies as they want (as long as it isn't to the point of spamming).
Rules

Think hard about your movie suggestions. I realize this is just a silly list on a forum but try to actually post movies that you truly believe are MUST WATCH, and not just "pretty good" movies. If you need to be reminded of some great movies that usually fly under the radar then I suggest you look at some bigger top lists such as these (just try not to copy them completely):
The New York Times Guide to the Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made
Empire Presents: The 500 Greatest Movies Of All Time
Think before rating. Yeah, it's just a 12x12 pixel on a website, but spamming agrees or disagrees is even worse for the results than suggesting a bunch of mediocre movies. When rating agree think "Is this truly a MUST SEE movie?". Also, when rating disagree think "Does this movie not deserve to be on the list because it was a bad movie, or do I just not enjoy it?". If you're not sure about those things, just don't rate the movie. I don't think I need to say this but please don't be stupid and rate movies that you haven't seen, only watched a small chunk of, or watched while mostly asleep (unless of course that movie was so bad that it put you to sleep)
Try to go beyond the obvious. I'm not saying don't add absolutely great movies that are well-known for a reason and I'm also not saying add obscure movies for the sake of obscurity, but try to think a little deeper to add a bit more variety to the list.

How to form suggestions:
Movie Name (Release Year)
(You can add extra stuff like posters and whatnot but make sure this part is included and it'll be the only part that gets put into the actual list)[/release]
    [release]
The Current List
I remember saying something towards the lines of, "Nothing like this will work because everyone will just argue and we'll get sidetracked and the thread will turn into a big ball of poo," and hopefully maybe Facepunch will start to learn to work together but I have high doubts.

Anyway my nominee is Citizen Kane (1941) and I don't need an explanation because it's Citizen fucking Kane; one of the most important movies ever made.

People should probably just not respond to other posts. Simply use the rating system and it can stay organised. Also probably not a good idea to put more than one movie per post.

The only problem with this is that great obscure movies will be rated lower than popular good movies simply because not as many people have watched the obscure ones.

Yeah, but hopefully it'll balance out a bit because great obscure movies will likely have a solid amount of agrees while popular movies will have disagrees mixed in
