The Aviator (2004)
Truly great movie, such an easy watch for a long movie... not one point in which this wasn't gripping my attention. Also some really worthy performances by people.
Never watched the Aviator. I guess l'll place it on my to do list.
What?
Shaun Of The Dead
I don't think Inception and Lord of the Rings should be so high up. Never mind.
They're a bit overrated, but Inception was still a very good entertaining blockbuster flick.
And there's not a lot of really good ones anymore.
The sheer scale of the Lord Of The Rings movies makes them great, and I don't think I've had as many spine tingling moments than in those films. Also, they're the only movies I've enjoyed more than the books, credit to Tolkien, but I was just plain bored 70% of the time reading them.
It's obviously personal preference. I would have appreciated the scale if I hadn't been bored 90% of the time. I remember there being a cool firework so that was alright.
where the fuck is funny games in this list
If it's not one the list then suggest it :)
I watched American History X yesterday, what should I watch from this list now?
Children of Men.
Oh shit, I never considered watching American History X because I thought it was about Malcolm X and he kind of bores me. I never even checked the IMDB page.
I bet you don't even know who Malcolm X is at all.
I do, I read his book, it didn't interest me.
All Quiet on the Western Front (1979 film)
I hear Martyrs is much more brutal, and better overall, but I can't comment as I have seen neither.
Syriana (2005)
Awesomeness of "hyperlink" cinema at its greatest. Basically means loads of storylines going on at the same time, flashing from place to place with everyone screwing with each other.
Great movie, doubt people will vote any more.
It's 3:25 AM and I'm watching Pulp Fiction. I just watched the scene where the guy is telling the kid about the watch he saved for him. I burst out laughing when he talked about how he and the kid's dad had to hide the watch up their asses for years.
Great movie.
Yup. Christopher Walken is hilarious.
Did we get bladerunner down?
Why the hell is Fight Club so high? Good movie? Yes, but not the best.
Borat.
this is Facepunch's top 250 not imdb.
if it's on top that means facepunchers think Fight Club is a great movie.
Probably most of the people see the Fight Club post and rate agree thinking "omg that is a good movie" even though they prefer another film to be at the top.
Magnolia (1999)
Probably the last one I'll post here because who cares about this thread any more.
Great movie btw.
its unfortunate but true, plus all the films on the first page are going to get priority because i doubt people keep coming back to keep voting. shame really
IMDB's top movies are mostly pretentious and Un-enjoyable affairs.
Edited:
I keep voting..
Care to name a few pretentiuos movies?
Already posted that one in the 11th page, but yes I agree. Fantastic film.
Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn
None of those are like anything in the top of that list.
Monsieur N (2003)
The one thing that makes me like this film a lot more than most other films about Bonaparte is that it's focused more about what's known (and some of the hypothetical ideas floating around out there) about his life in exile on St. Helena than his military campaigns. Excellent costuming as well.
9th Company(2005)
i don't know if it was already posted but this was great
