Why are companies suddenly competing to come up with the worst possible names for their devices?

    Reminds me of Diablo 3.

Also your title says US dollars twice.

    Now onto discussions;

First I'd to say that as a portable gaming platform it shows promise. However, as a portable gaming platform I doubt it'll go much farther than the PSP did. The PSP hardly had any good games. I own about 10 of them, and rarely play any of them. I use mine mostly for music/video/photos and of course occasional blast from the past emulators.

I'm not saying it won't sell, obviously it will. However, I don't have a lot of faith in the games.

Vita may sound stupid but PSV sounds fine.

Also, anyone know if the 3G will have a service cost? I assume it will, but I know some devices have free 3G.

I was surprised how good this looked. It won't stop me from buying a 3DS, but it is tempting.

I don't see the big deal with the name. I'll probably just refer to it as the PSV.
Uncharted at launch? I'm glad I held out on getting a 3DS.

Thanks. I'm not sure if I should just not bother with the 3G version, or I should just get it since it's only $50 more and will give me the option to later on.

PSV is certainly showing some promise, but it still doesn't have that great of a lineup at the moment. All I can think of is Uncharted, and even then I am both not a big fan (Although I do like the games) and also never thought it was really fit for a handheld. It will probably have some good shooters and the like in the future (Now that devs can actually make FPS games without resorting to the most unintuitive control schemes ever devised due to Sony being utterly incompetent when designing the PSP), so I'll wait for those to start popping up.

PSP is okay but games suck.
    PSPGo Sucks all together.
DS is okay, but also limited by lack of games.

PSV Looks pretty good, very powerful. Games are a hit or miss.
3DS is an okay idea, can't say I like the 3D, but there are NO games. At all.

Right now I'm more inclined on getting a PSV than a 3DS. I already have a DSi and PSP-3, but the PSV seems like it upgrades enough to warrant me adding it to my collection, where as the 3DS adds 3D. That's it. I can live without 3D.

I can't wait for the price in Europe to be completely outrageous for about three years like with the PS3. It was like twice the US price for forever and the price didn't go down for years, which was the main reason I ended up spending the money I'd saved for one on a new computer.

I was never one for Mario games after Super Mario 64. They aren't bad games, but they don't appeal to me anymore.

And one game should not decide what system to get. It should be a combination of games and how they relate to your preferences. Personally Playstation has always given me the "hardcore" games I wanted. Nintendo dropped that ball years ago.

Price for Europe is the same as everywhere else. Literally. The OP just typo-d the title, the second or last one should say 299 EU.

Well I'm not sure, but shouldn't $299 in Europe be just as reasonable as $299 in America? What is the minimum wage in Europe?

Assuming Sony makes the same mistake three times, yes. If not, yes. Where there is a device to be hacked, there is a hacker to hack it.

What's everyone's problem with 'Vita'? I think it sounds fine. I rather like it, even.

Also, the price point on the Vita convinced me that Nintendo ripped me off with the 3DS. I don't regret the purchase (I love my 3DS ), but they're definitely overcharging for it.

DS? Lack of games? The hell are you smoking? The DS has one of the best libraries in the history of ever.

And to say the 3DS has no games is not really correct. It depends on your tastes right now... I've got two games for it that I absolutely adore. (Samurai Warriors Chronicles and Dead or Alive Dimensions.) And within the next month or so, it's getting its first 'killer apps' as well. Ocarina of Time and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D.

My opinion of it lacking any good games depends on my tastes. And my taste is DS games suck. I have two games for the DS and I don't see myself interested in any others. I have Pokemon Black and Chrono Trigger. Chrono Trigger is an amazing RPG, one of the best out there. And Pokemon is a fun RPG I've enjoyed since I first got Pokemon Yellow as a kid.

Nintendo goes for the younger audiences and because of that don't make many games I'll enjoy. It's just my opinion. They can have 25000 games in their library and my opinion will be unchanged unless they finally make a game that's not a waste of my time or money.

Might look into this. This year I chose the iPad 2 as my portable gaming device and I'm loving it, but if there are some good titles coming out then I'll consider getting this. Most likely not though because if I have something for portable gaming, then I don't need something else, and I also need to save money to upgrade my PC for Battlefield 3 and other great games coming out.

They must be lowering the price dramatically to compete with the iPod Touch and the 3DS. The stuff inside that thing doesn't sound cheap.

Did they mention the battery life yet? That's the only thing I'm concerned with at this point.

I think the battery life is something 8-10 hours.

What I want to know is how well the browser will work. PSPs browser sucks. Even home brew browsers don't quite cut it half the time.

Firstly: Nintendo does not aim exclusively for younger audiences. They have an all ages appeal, like Pixar. Secondly: you are aware there are a ton of amazing third-party DS titles, right? The World Ends with You, Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor & Strange Journey, the Etrian Odyssey series, Dementium: The Ward and Dementium 2, Moon, the Phoenix Wright series, the Rune Factory series, GTA: Chinatown Wars... I could go on.

I heard the battery life was similar to the PSP
