Post #1I don't know if this deserves a thread. that's a matter of opinion, but bah. It's not hurting anyone.
So I recently discorved that I sort of enjoy drawing, Heres some of my drawings.
Please don't judge the guns purely on shadeing, I can't shade for shit obviously. (Look at the SAW barrel.)
The quote on the MAC-10 is "This was a bitch to draw"

I'm aware, I'm trying to get better, For the guns I used reference photos and free handed it. All I have to work with is a number 2 pencil and scissors. Still it's not really an excuse, I'm just not very professional

try to LEARN to draw them instead of just drawing what you see! also when you look at you gun drawings and at your refs and you can CLEARLY see that they're wrong, why don't you put some effort in it to get it right.

Ouch, Shit. I just wanted to draw. The proportions were measured with my eyes alone. And honestly I'm not seeing exactly whats wrong, The MAC-10 for instance, Its not missing anything, it's just off in shape a little.

it may not be missing anything, gun spec wise, but it's just very poorly drawn and poorly shaded, it's very flat

the fact that you can't even see your own mistakes is pretty bad.
did you expect only praise for your work? if so posting them here seems pretty useless.
I can give you tips on how to get better, like, use a ruler for starters, study the weapons and figure out how they are put together, if not you're just blindly guessing what you're drawing.
Don't be proud that you have made some badly drawn copies of some guns with your eyes, this is what children do

Yeah, the 3D concept is sort of hard for me to grasp on paper, I experimented with it on the MAC-10 and i't came out better then the others (Still doesn't say much) in my opinion.
Detlef, I understand that i'm going to get harsh criticism and I can handle that, but I expect alittle constructive feedback too. Not just "You suck! Badly drawn! Do better! Rawrara!" But anyway, The ruler is out of the question unless I find something in the house (Unlikely)

My lines are fine. And I guess it could get a ruler, but it wouldn't do me much justice if I still can't shade or get the gun anatomically correct. That's what im focusing on. (Please no sarcasm, come on.)
Sidenote, Zombie Waff is amazing. Props to you Det. *Thumb's up* Lovin it.

your lines aren't fine, they could use alot more work, you can't limit your drawings to "oh I think this is fine I'm gonna keep it like this"

But dude seriously... Did you even look in the creative drawings thread?
Some stuff in there is amazing, you really shouldn't be posting your starter work in it's own thread.
Should have went there for some criticism.
Don't be surprised if people are harsh with you when your cocky enough to make your own thread for... this.
You would have gotten some nice advice otherwise if you would have toned down the pride of drawing a couple of guns from pictures.

Get a fucking ruler if she tells you too, she's actually smart.
You can sketch out the gun first and then just use a ruler to continue.
And don't just keep making excuses, you're not gaining anything by this.

I know you're good at drawing, and that it annoys you when people aren't learning to draw productively, but even so I think you guys can be quite rude sometimes. If you approached it a bit differently then you'd get your point across much better and it would be much more constructive.

Have a look over "Twelve Ways to Win People to Your Way of Thinking" because it really is important. You can be the best at something in the world, but if everyone who approaches you ends up walking away thinking you're a dick head then you'll not achieve much.

The idea is to give them the critique in a way that they don't take it personally, that's all there is to it. But then that's just my advice, as you say, take my critique or brush it off, up to you.
