Why have it? That is just making things worse. I can see Chez's reasoning with the XP plugin (Even if it completely breaks the flow of gameplay), but a portable smelter is just getting completely ridiculous.

Dragory is online (and AFK) now.
Because I'm bored: A quick history of the server (as far as I remember)
I joined the server, joined Creepavalley, which was pretty much the biggest faction and had the largest city. At that time, a lot of stuff was made with /give, so this city was HUGE. Eventually, I got bored, and killed Loriborn, a random citizen (at the time, but this causes problems later!).
I run away with Deadchicken and a few others to create Umbra Mortus, a shady faction that terrorized the village constantly. On a random day, I decided to run into Creepavalley and attack it. 3 guards stood no chance, and I took them all down. At this time, someone started ruining the town, and there was a general riot. I eventually stood atop the castle, and told everyone I owned the city. No one really minded, so I renamed it "Flooderia" (after the constant floods someone was causing), and put up propaganda signs all over. Once the previous owners of the town got back, they took the place back over. By then, it was in ruins, and it was abandoned and looted. It still was interesting to explore it, as there was a hidden monster disposal system beneath the city I never discovered until I found a hole in the street. That was operated by legendary_ken, by the way.
After my defeat at Flooderia, Umbra Mortus' tower was destroyed by some other people and Deadchicken and I built another one far away.
Fenway was created, and we terrorized that for a bit, but left it alone after a while. Meanwhile, Loriborn created a neat little city on the ice called "Icecap", which we attacked multiple times. After a while, our current fort was found, but it was a very complicated attack in which rules were broken, so we just left it alone. I took up a job as Loremaster, and created dungeons and cool stuff with Deadchicken.
At this point, the server was shut down due to some conflicting updates. The final map looked like this. A second server came up, but that was extremely short lived.
Fast forward to the 3rd server. This one was interesting, but extremely unbalanced. There was a singular ruling faction, Meinheim, which all but one admin was on. Any other factions usually got destroyed within a matter of days either by pressure to join or attack. Manu Mortus, my faction, had a fortress in the far reaches of the map. After a while, Loriborn and I developed a fierce rivalry. Our factions hated each other. We hated Meinheim for being the giant, overruling faction owning almost all the members of the server, and they hated us for being the annoying flea that attacked them. Tobba2, ThePortalMastster and I were the most active members in that faction. After a while, Meinheim attacked our fortress when I was away, so we went peaceful and lived near the coast near spawn. Loriborn frequently had issues with the rules, as he made a nyan cat pixel art "dedicated to his girlfriend", who he constantly made exceptions to the rules for. We planned to attack Meinheim with the allied power of Winland (now Kalewala), but never got to due to server shutdown.
Jump to the current server: Loriborn and Meinheim were pretty much non-existant. Ironhelm was set up to be the new Meinheim, but luckily, people joined other factions and it is currently relatively balanced. You know the rest, as you are creating and playing it.
Well not everyone is loving and hugging. Ironhelm already had a war with two factions,
and ended up attacking a massive castle.
It's not wrong to kill, but you need to restrain from killing everybody not from your group, have
a sense of decency, and try to do other things besides robbing and killing people.
In order to make the fire pick, you would have to train mining a lot. We're probably going to make it so it's extremely difficult to actually get up to those high levels, and we can always config those powers to be higher or lower levels. We'll be tweaking it as we play.
First off, I don't need to refrain from anything, this is a medieval faction mod RP server, I'm a bandit and I will do what bandits do, or whatever the medieval term for them is, highwayman, pillager, w/e.
My back story is simple. I grew up with nothing, and don't care much for politics, I go about my own questionable methods to make myself rich.
I'll decide what my character on the server does. If you're so against it, send an assassin out to kill me. There are ways to deal with highwayman without crying on forums about it.
I won't and can't ban you for that, but one thing I would recommend is making your killings classy and interesting. Trap enemies in cleverly-placed buildings, make traps, or follow people back to their base.
I agree with this man!
Some people enjoy the idea of creating vast, complicated structures.
I enjoy the idea of creating holes in vast, complicated structures.
also, drinking.
Someone should have built a giant penis on Nyan cat's face.
Edited:
Death messages will be available! You can see who kills who, and why people die! Perfect for wars or laughing at your friend's idiotic deaths.
I don't agree with this at all. It'll clog the server's cheat on wars and will give information that other shouldn't get, if you really are after a proper RP.
is it down? I can't connect.
Wait Chez, what is the most illegal thing that Loriborn has done to Age of Mines Server in terms of breaking rules and whatnot?
He constantly altered the rules for his girlfriend, /give'd lots of stuff, and in an earlier map, he actually /gave out diamond to anyone that helped build a tunnel between his town and another. Everyone that helped out got 2 stacks of diamond, and the economy was pretty much null at that point.
I don't want to go on too much more, but he did do a lot of stuff. Everyone has their faults, though.

Also, this.
Why didn't Dragory take his rights as an admin away?
I'm not sure what happened. He sort of just disappeared.
Damn steam....
Waiting it to reconnect.
I cannot connect to steam. Is this just me?
Edited:
Apparently not. Anyways, when do you estimate the server will be up?
Edited:
Also, dragory wanted me to give you something since we're all having issues. Check your PM, osku.
Im having slight issues with Steam aswell.
Somebody should make a page about me. Use the words ruthless, brutal, thieving, betrayer, but also show them my good side.![]()
You can make it yourself! Just go to the "Important Figures" section, edit it so there is "[[Yournamehere]]", and click on it to create that article. Make sure it is relatively non-bias, though.
How couldn't that be a good thing on an Rp server?
The more backstabbing there is, the better.
I'm not that bad, like last night this guy had a diamond sword and I stole it, and he was like "hey ur gunna get banned lulziyihairhia" and I said "no i'm not, I put a chest down outside of the tower near Skaal with the rest of his stuff including an iron sword, he turned around and killed me with it while I was typing and Asrele killed him. Then I got back and was like, "you see, this is what I get."
Still having issues with steam, and my internet. To answer your question, look over in this thread for all the commands and info you need.

I encourage everyone to read the rules so they know that killing is not a server rule crime. Just be wary of the consequences.
I'm making my article :/ bear with me if stuff is posted wrong I don't mess with wikis
Edited:
Is there a tab for regular players? Or rather, how do I make one
Someone should make a "Manhunter Guild", kinda like a bunch of guys who maintain some peace and law around the world and hunt down criminals for money from the factions the criminal has been declared.
Edited:
It's a shame we aren't more people playing on the server.
There's already something of the sort, ask around.
Oh I see.
Nevermind I think I've figured it out..
I logged off after I realized they game wasn't letting me hurt him. Apparently people are invencible when they are inside their own faction which is bullshit.
Who killed you?
Edited:
Server crash again? -.-
Dragory is fixing some stuff.
Should be soon back.
Edited:
Now just do wiki stuff: http://ageofmines.net/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page
There are rumors of something like that going around. I heard Luley stated one after the whole Skaal thing. Not so law-abiding, but you catch my drift.
The faction protection is like that to prevent friendly fire and such during war, as well as boosting each other by training in combat against fellow factionieers.

So far, the feedback we've gotten is a few "Ooh cool we're grinding" and "Grindcraft isn't fun...", as well as general loathing and hate toward this.
Just bear with us. We are testing this out to see if it could be a welcome addition. Just don't grind blatantly, or we will drop your levels accordingly. We're trying to work this in more naturally.

Also, feel free to give positive or negative feedback here, and say what you think would make things better.

We want to impliment some sort of plugin to have classes or jobs, but we can't think of any. Does this look good?
http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/rpg...em-1000.27358/
The thing about this, it's purely combat. Would you guys like a sort of combat class system?

Maybe this?

For bankers.
I would like it if the levels were changed to not hinder you at lows, but hlp you at highs instead.
Everyone who wishes to keep this plugin, rate agree. Rate this post disagree for ditching this plugin, and rate it "Funny" if you want to keep it, but make changes (which you would explain in a reply)
We should vote about levels mod.
Disagree for removing it completetly
Informative for removing everything else than mining, comabt, range, forging.
Agree for keeping it.
My feedback on the leveling system:
I don't like it. Only good things are numbers showing up, telling how good you are in skill A or B. That's how you can compete against others, without going to war D:
But there are some useless levels; * Scavenger *Farming * Excavation *Forgery *Explosives
Range as combat skill - perhaps not nessessary.
WoodCutting - Better your skill, faster you cut wood OR you can get double logs if using golden axe with high enough level (20 or so) - no need for leveling to use an axe.
Mining - Same thing as WoodCutting, you mine faster with higher level you got. Maybe some random drops, bones/gunpower/flint - those things which are undergroundy.
Combat - Just for the fun seeing how good you are in combat against Chezhead
Defence - You can stand more hits than normaly
Dexterity - You can "walk" a bit faster with higher level of this - or a bit higher jumps -(not like 3 blocks high tho)
Farming seems to circle around tilling dirt currently
I had to grind our entire front area to finally get to the point of being able to use a hoe on wheat
