so, i'm in the progress of starting a company, where i sell and rent game servers, and i want to have a name for the website that describes the point of the site, but also attracts gamers.

the servers will be using Cloud, which has a lot of advangetes,

then i came up with the name : Game Cloud, and made this quick logo in photoshop

but I probably wouldn't click on that logo, if i wanted an AWESOME game server,

so if anyone has some ideas to both the name and some design tips to the logo, i would be thankful

i like it, the design and all.

but what im really looking for, is some more modern, sharp edged (basically, less fluffy clouds, and more cool electronic 3d-ish gaming computers'n'stuff logo)

It's a very cool idea, but I think the monitor drags the focus to the left, and in a logo you want the focus centered.

The first try had a line cloud instead of a gradient, let me see...

Not too big on the letters going into the cloud underline. Maybe hide that by making the cloud black?

im going to adjust the cloud thing if he chooses mine. the stroke is too thick in the left side which adds too much weight and yeah everything black

Good to hear. Maybe you could even taper off theleft side line about half-way up like you did the other end on the cloud.

I just do what I can for my fellow fp brethren. Seriously, 90% of the logo work I do is just random free stuff for people that request on facepunch. However, I like to think I have a decent grasp on branding, I've been doing it for a while now. Anyways, thanks for your comments.

Well, you know, a mushroom cloud is kind of cool. (I totally see where you are coming from though).

Improved readability on font at small sizes, and showing some other colours.

First time posting some graphic design on FP, there's probably better fonts available for the idea, and I could execute it better.
The cloud looks too cartoony.

This one has a cool composition, I'd vary up the text abit, maybe make one letter stand out in some way. Or perhaps change the colors up.

Definitely could be, I wasn't showing another colour grouping, just some other colour variants.

Of course, just pointing out that it not only looks better with a white background and black fill but it's also much more practical when printing it on small documents. After all that would either give you a black rectangle around the logo or remove the border around the whole thing making the fill what stands out from the white paper.

Not everything's printed, a game server website is more likely to have a dark background in my opinion.

Of course, it all depends on where it's going to be used.


Also just looked up how the two different variations looked without the border visible.

Black text looks like shit with a black background. White text looks still pretty good with a white background, despite what I thought in my brain (better with a border, but it works).
