    well my brother works on the same internet connection like me.
    i recently made a server,
    i wanted to let my bro join but it always said "cant connect to the server".
    that doesent happen to guests,
    ive had guests already.

    can someone please help me and my bro?

    Try getting him to type "localhost" without quotes in the IP box.

    Where ever you type in the address, have your brother type in "localhost", without the quotes.

    It might be an issue on the way minecraft handles sockets, if that dosent work.

    Localhost shouldn't work as the server is not on the computer of the brother right?

    Localhost is 127.0.0.1 not 192.168.2.1 (or whatever the router ip is).

    But that tut says to put online-mode to false?

    This tut is an old method to get multiple people playing on your lan, what the OP wants is his brother joining on lan and other people online.

    Ah I didnt know localhost used the loopback address.

    Get him to type in your computers private IP address, unless youve changed the address the IP should begin with 192.168.

    If you forward the port the servers using you should be able to connect to the server via it's external IP

    There is some problem with two people on the same IP joining the server, but my mate got around it somehow I just don't know how.
