    Plot:
    rottentomatoes.com posted:
Ryan Gosling stars as a Los Angeles wheelman for hire, stunt driving for movie productions by day and steering getaway vehicles for armed heists by night. Though a loner by nature, Driver can't help falling in love with his beautiful neighbor Irene (Carey Mulligan), a vulnerable young mother dragged into a dangerous underworld by the return of her ex-convict husband Standard (Oscar Isaac). After a heist intended to pay off Standard's protection money spins unpredictably out of control, Driver finds himself driving defense for the girl he loves, tailgated by a syndicate of deadly serious criminals. But when he realizes that the gangsters are after more than the bag of cash in his trunk-that they're coming straight for Irene and her son-Driver is forced to shift gears and go on offense.

Author of book "Drive" is planning a sequel

“ "Driven" - Six years later – Phoenix. Out of nowhere someone wants Driver dead. Who? Why? Big mistake…”
Maybe we'll see a sequel to movie too.
Drive is in the Oscar nominees for best sound editing.

    That's about it.

I was just about to post a thread on this. This movie was incredible. The soundtrack was great, made me feel like it was an 80's movie.

This movie is very good, but it's not an action movie with tons of car chases. Anyone who goes to see it for that is going to be disappointed.

Amazing film, and I love the soundtrack. And yeah, mis-leading trailer. It's a great film but it's no mega action movie.

I didn't have much knowledge of the movie and it turned out great. Surprisingly good. Though I think the main protagonist is a bit silent at times.

He's a predator, a shark, remember the conversation he had with the kid?

So he's silent like a predator, only when he strikes does he make a commotion. It's one of the things I like about the movie.

The other thing is the very spare dialogue. There is not a lot of talking in this movie, the actors act with their faces and eyes mostly. I think it's a great change of pace from the type of cliche dialogue most movies push on audiences. I like being able to imagine what I think they are thinking and feeling instead of having them spell it out all the time.

Been waiting for a thread on this.

This may be my favorite movie of the year. Everything about it is artful, interesting, and well-made. Totally in love with the cinematography, almost every shot has something cool about it. The few chase scenes are shot very old-school and really make you feel like you're watching one of those timeless movie chases from the Bullitt era. I'm pretty sure they used all practical effects for the chases.

The rest of the movie deals with a lot of dark, ugly stuff that fleshes out Gosling's otherwise mute character. I love how the dialogue is kept to a minimum and his actions and expressions are allowed to speak for themselves.

This movie has kind of snuck by under the radar, but it is righteously kicking ass with the critics. Drive has more depth, cinematography, style, and talent on display than any of the year's flashy CGI-fests. Michael Bay will never be able to touch this.

This movie was great, loved the soundtrack, the action was well paced and the amount of stuff conveyed with little speech was great. One thing bugged me though, the car sounds. They were one sound on loop, he could be slowing down and it'd still be an engine accelerating, hell he hit third gear in reverse at one point.

I agree. I only saw an interview about it and it's rating and I think because of it I enjoyed the film a lot more. The trailer is really, really revealing.

The robbery scene    is much intense if you don't know what to expect.

I like how you emphasized the scorpion, because I think it is the key to the theme of this movie(and character).

Also, the color scheme and grittiness of the poster captures the throwback style of the movie itself.

If I can make some stylistic colour changes, because this makes it seem like it's set in the desert:

Change the lighter yellows (includes the scorpion) to the pink they use in the original font.
Change the darker yellow to black, and the black to white.

It's fantastic work by the way.

That makes much more sense but it's still just a silhouette on a monotone background.

That's a bit harsh. That's all it's supposed to be, it's just a custom poster. You know it's supposed to look screenprinted right? And I chose the colours because I feel like they represented the film's vibe in my mind.

    In design, less is more.

Cool man looks like every other poster you ever made

He's going to pry apart his 1/2 scale car with a hammer
And these kind of posters are more conceptual than literal, for example it's not as if a giant face is really floating over a city like most posters show. But it's also not hard to see he's closer to the foreground than the car is, it's not a small car.
Made it entirely of my own free will and for no specific purpose and I thought I'd share it with other people who liked the movie, you don't have to like the poster but there's no need to totally diss it because you don't like the style of it. :(

    Edited:

This is an incredibly rough approximation of what it would look like. But I suck at photoshop, so thats why it sucks.
    I don't think that's a very good colour scheme

    Here's a pink variation though
