    No I know, but that wasn't my point to begin with. I was just saying aerobic gains are more important to me than muscle ones, but others feel differently, so he should try both.

    Started Couch to 5k today, felt like I was going to fall over during my first run but everything's fine now.

    Getting Vibrams aswell, walking on forefeet is like walking hardmode.

    I started because the distances you guys run seem superhuman to me, so if I can achieve 5k in such a short time I'll feel fantastic.

    Any good motivation for my running? I normally just do half an hour a day or every two days, but sometimes I just dont feel willing enough to get out although I want to.

    Run in a different location? Do some hills? Do some speedwork? Try and beat your personal best? Attend a runner's club if you have one in your area?

    I run 3 miles 3 times a week on my treadmill. I want to bump i up to 4 but then that means I have less time to do other stuff so I'm just going to make that run harder

    Treadmills are boring. If you can, actually go somewhere and you'll enjoy running a lot more.

    If you're running on a treadmill just put a tv in front of it or some shit. You watch shows at some point, watch them while running.

    I don't like running around my neighborhood alone. When I run outside I tend to take more breaks unless someone is there to motivate me. I like running on the treadmill anyways, if I need to shit or piss in the middle of it, I can just go to the bathroom and sit my sweaty ass on the toilet as I breathe heavily

    I've been running moderately since November, working up to running about 4 miles without stopping. I've always felt somewhat fine after my runs (2 miles), but lately I've been noticing I feel a bit dizzy. My stomach also seems to hurt a little bit after also, even if I don't eat anything before. My stomach can really hurt though if I eat within 2 hours after a run.

    I thought that my symptoms may be that of high blood pressure, but a few minutes after running my blood pressure was about 115-120. So I don't think that's really a problem. Is it normal to develop mild dizziness, mild abdominal pain, and maybe even gas (which does cause pain)? My diet mostly consists of cereal, whole wheat turkey sandwiches, chicken, vegetables, apples, etc. I've barely changed my diet since December - where I've had no problems.


    Should I see a doctor?

    It's very normal. I feel like that after every race. Usually it doesn't last as long for me, but I think that's more because I'm able to run much farther distances (15 - 16 miles) without stopping, and shorter distances aren't as big of a problem for me.

Regular practice and stuff will get me to where I can run without coming out wheezing like a motherfucker, but I'd like to get to that part quicker. How do I get better at running for long periods of time?

    You can try tempo runs, fartleks, long distance runs.

    Tempo runs are where you run for about 20 minutes at a pace called 'comfortably hard' That means it's a pace where you KNOW you're running hard but you're not racing. You will also want to slow down AND you'll feel like you can't be bothered to say a single world. This will help your muscles to take in oxygen more efficiently. This will be difficult.

    Fartleks are a form of interval training where the intensity of the run is alternated at various times. You'll need a watch with a stoptimer on it. It stresses both aerobic(easy running) and anaerobic(hard, fast running) energy systems so it's perfect for lacrosse since you are constantly changing speeds. A fartlek ladder might look like: 5 minute warm-up jog then 2 minutes hard pace then 2:30 easy pace then 3 minutes hard pace, then 2:30 easy pace... you get the point

    I can't wait until it gets warmer around here, as running on a treadmill isn't too much fun. To also add, I tend to get distracted and almost fall off. I've been doing two miles at about a 6-8mph pace. I want to try to get back to beating my 6:27 mile.

    Do shuttles

    Go to a football field or some other area that is flat and long. Measure out about 50 yards (or something reasonably long) and sprint from there and back. Rest a minute and repeat for about 8 times. Time yourself while you're at it and try and get lower every time. As an added bonus, you also do some agility training while doing this.

    On week 6 of Couch to 5k, I realised I was stopping alot and going to slow if I went by the time guidelines. So I went back and redid week 5 in distance instead of time, nonstop.

    Did the 20 minute 2mile run in 22 minutes :D

    Any one give me some advice as I am finding it really hard to run.

    I am about 6' 3 and I cannot jog at a comfortable rhythm to save my life so I have to do more of a run however every single time I go for a run I will get stitch even thought I haven't eaten or drunk anything within the past few hours of doing so and it just gets to painful to go on.

    I can happily play basketball, rugby and sprint with out any issues but when I want to go on a run its just havoc.

    Please run for 500m with the feeling of some one stabbing you and getting progressively worse. I am sure my form is fine, I only have problems when It's just running that I'm doing.

    i used to be on the wrestling team when i was a fat as fatass and we ran for literally an hour straight . ive had stitched , ive puked and i nearly passed out a few times ( and i didnt quit until i had to get surgery)

    regardless of whether or not its possible for you to quit being a pussy , you should try to do couch to 5k. if you follow it you should beable to run a 5k in 30 mins ez pz when its over

    I usually run once or twice a week, I wanna run more though, I have such a huge field next to my house, I don't run as much as i'd like to due to lack of motivation. Do you guys think recording mile times and stuff would maybe increase motivation?

    5k is approximately an 18:10 or so. Mile is 5:20-5:30. Probably worse since i started lifting more and just go on one long range run a week.

    Just went running for 1 h 30 minutes.
    It feels great to have broken my record.

    Alltough it came at the cost of having my hands getting a lot of cold and getting a bunch of chafings.

    And holy shit having a huge pint of cola-orange juice feels fantastic.

    Went for a run for the first time after a completely sedentary month.

    Time dropped from an hour -> 20 minutes @ 5:30min/km.

    I really want to build up running skillz, but I feel like a retarded douchebag each and every time I attempt to run, especially when pros at the park run past me, and to rub salt into the wound, some of them say "Keep up the spirit!".
    Even worse is the fact that I am in shitty shape, and because my parents were douchy they didn't encourage me to get into sports when I was younger, so I have to build up a good shape myself, which if I am lucky will take me several months of training (which I will probably never get into, because I give up pretty easily, as I only really do some fitness-y stuff 2 times a week (martial arts and dancing))
    I didn't mean to rant, but I hope I've given you a sense of my situation. I'd really like some response and some help with this shit.

    It's awesome how when I started running I was having a break with my asthma medication. So I got exhausted way more easily.
    And now that I have started to use the inhalator again my stamina has boosted greatly.
