If you had to switch car by next week, what would you choose?
To be realistic, take the value of your current car (which we pretend you have to sell to get another one) and post your next car here.

I've got the 1994 Volvo 940 GL (about 15 000,-), 1988 Jeep Cherokee Laredo (about 5000,- since it's just for parts), 1988 Jeep Cherokee Limited (about 20 000,- when I'm done with it) and the 1971 Volkswagen Beetle 1303 (about 20 000,-) and together I figure they're worth about 60 000,- or around $11 000

What I like is something old, yet functional, hopefully 4x4, and a pickup would be nice for once so I would probably get either a Nissan KingCab, Nissan Terrano or a Toyota Hilux... or another Jeep ofc

This is what I've found so far:

    Toyota Hilux for 43 000,-

Nissan King Cab for 50 000,-

    Jeep Commanche for 60 000,-

    Edited:

Also yes I would actually use the bed, not just drive a pickup because I want to but also because of its bed

I've got the money sitting in the bank for this and it's killing me but the girlfriend and I are moving out just before Christmas so I'll have to hold off buying until we've settled in. Got just over 5,000 so will be able to pick up an absolute mint model with change for any work that wants doing:

The classifieds are full of dogs at the minute but if I had to buy I'd go for this...

    http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3388833.htm

Ideally watiting for one to come up in red that's had a recent respray and possibly an engine rebuild within the last 5 years (saves me doing it!). They're rare but mint ones do come along for sale and if one does that ticks all the boxes then screw what the girlfriend says, I'll be buying it.

I have a 1989 Caprice, and currently as my winter car a 1991 Crown vic. But i came to terms, since I drive a good 20-50 miles a day, I need something good on gas, so I am selling my crown vic to a friend, and should hopefully have this at the end of the week, or start of next week.

    1980 oldsmobile starfire SX.
One of 2500 from the year. Its pretty much mine unless I change my mind/back out.

The extended cab is a very good thing to have. And you are picking a good truck. Mine is at 150,000 and still going strong. That and the v6 is a huge upgrade.

Oh I know, my family had a Toyota 4x4 (same thing as the Tacoma, just before they named it "Tacoma") that was 22 years old when it died last winter. Poor thing was a beauty, ext. cab in red. The old beast only died because he hemorrhaged fluids due to a loose/decayed seal that could only be replaced by disassembling the whole engine. Had about 165k on it, we sold it to a hick mechanic who has probably given it a new life :]

We have a 74 Beetle as well that's manual.

I don't think auto was a very common feature on them back then.

If I ever had the money, I'd probably go out and buy an S2000 just to have one. They're a very good looking roadster but the prices are a bit steep right now.

I actually think Japfeiffer is going to browse some car lots and buy one around March or so.

Pretty sure he was looking at this one too

Personally I'd buy me a hard top one

(The hard top is removable just like the vert top but it pops off as a shell)

Until then I'll stick with my Civics, CRXs, and cheap jap boxes.

I could probably get like $15k for my car.... honestly don't know what I'd get. I'd have to test drive lots of stuff. Probably something light, and RWD, and exciting to drive, which my current car isn't.

  22. Post #22
If I ever sell my car, I'd get a maximum of $20k.

$4000 for a 320i or an e30, same price here.
    $6000 for a VW Beetle
    $2600 for a 81' Mercedes 300

$7400 for repairs, upgrades if needed.

The condition is pretty mint, took care of all the rust. It has the engine of a 1998 328i, the engine has less than 100.000km on it so it's running flawlessy.
It also has a LSD with 3.25 gearing.
Old pic: It has the facelift headlights now and black kidneys.

It's a 1988 320i with the Mtech pack, Recaro sport seats, Mtech soundsystem and the Mtech suspension (Bilstein). Can talk about the price in PM, just make me an offer.

I think you guys already know

Citroen C4 Grand picasso, VTR+ with 6 Speed EGS gearbox and the 1.6 eHDi Deisel Engine (110BHP) - I could feasibly afford one now but I want to run my xsara picasso into the ground.

Big, Functional, cars that just sip fuel. My sort of thing.

They look the part but Hyundais aren't famous for their great engines. Shame really because the Coupe (Genesis in the states?) was a good looking car, just didn't have the performance to match.

I don't mind Hyundai, really, but can't get over how insectoid-looking their cars are. I liked the old S Coupe and the Tiburon, too bad both of those were a fucking joke.

Was pretty excited about the Genesis Coupe until I found out no V8. I mean yeah, the V6 might have 306 horsepower, which is impressive and whatever, but come on... V8, RWD, five liters of 429 horsepower. You can't tell me that wouldn't be incredible.

It might sound weird but I'd think it would be the first "Korean Muscle Car", really.

Well, also, the Genesis Coupe's nose.... I can't get over how the headlights look... The bottom of them just looks fucked up. And the lower grill section still looks very wonky to me.

That backside though, porbably one of the prettiest asses on a car nowadays.

I'm not much for smooth styling but those body lines... They just look so buff.

Then again, I'm no Hyundai guy. The last two hyundais I've owned hand engines that hand grenaded on me. :|
