Is it testing your physical strength, endurance, or physical aptitude at anything? No.

this is bullshit, you have to be physically strong and have endurance to do this shit, don't believe me?
    go try it yourself.

    By the technical definition? Yes

Personally I don't really think of it that way though

i think it deserves as much recognition as any other sport. my reasoning is that it is a test of will and wits, as well as reflexes. like ANY other sport.

I'd like to see a real argument that really challenges why it shouldn't be considered a sport.

The link you posted doesn't really offer anything. It's one guy challenging it with no real argument.

oh, no wonder it was a shit, anecdotal "debate" that sounded like two pals chatting in a coffee shop.

Driving a car around in a circle isn't a sport at all,

F1 racing and Rally is, because it takes real mental strength to pull off corners without losing too much speed.

The only mental involvement in NASCAR is slipstreaming the guy in front, nothing more.

what criteria are you basing this off of? I agree that F1 and Rally are clearly more of a challenge, but other than that why are they considered a sport to you versus something that is honestly fairly similar?

You can't judge what is and is not a sport based on how difficult it appears because then you have to set the bar of difficulty at which something is a sport.

Not all races are oval tracks, they run road courses just like Indy Cars.

Tons of math is involved in NASCAR just like any other motorsport. They have to accurately guess how long a tank of fuel will last them, which tires to change depending on longevity and track conditions, and when to call for a pit stop to ensure them the best track positioning.

Putting a 2000lb car around a 36 degree corner with a car on either side, 3 in front, and 3 behind you all driving at over 100mph is pretty hard.

I'd say a better quesion to ask is if motorised driving is a sport. If yes, then NASCAR is one. If not, then it isn't

Well I guess it's a motor sport like any other. I don't particularly like it or follow it, but believe me I get the idea of it. It's kinda lame.

There are some other lame sports too, like ski jumping or marathons where hundreds dumb fucks decide to go run together for god longs how long distances..

    Sport - Noun

An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others.

Driving can be pretty physically demanding at times and you can race in teams, so... yeah....

Since when does it have to be challenging to be a sport?
Name one sport that doesn't have any sort of challenge.

It get's extremely hot inside the cars. Up above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It's extremely demanding to have to sit there and concentrate under heat stroke conditions while driving a car at near 200 miles per hour without crashing for hours at a time with no breaks. Yes it is a sport. Anyone that say's its easy doesn't know what they're talking about.

It's a lot harder than that really.
