I am trying to shoot a short machinima in minecraft by myself, and the 3rd person camera ingame just isn't cutting it. i searched around and the only good camera mod i could find was for 1.7.3

Does anyone know a good 3rd person camera mod that will let me move the camera separate to my character?

Create an offline server and connect a second client without logging in.
