    Edited:

That spider is also Shelobs' momma
Wouldn't mind seeing the battle between the army of Balrogs and giant spiders either.

LOTR Blu-Ray Trilogy Extended Edition is on sale at Amazon for $50 now.

I would buy it but the extra features are on DVDs and they're Region 1 apparently so I can't play them

Is the price just going down or is it a temporary sale?

Just get a region 2 version?

LoTR extended Box-Set is the Bethesda RPG of DVD's The value is sky high. 11.5 hours of film + 27 hours of "Making of" material. Holy shit son! You're lucky when you get more than 30 minutes of that. One thing i always grudged the Harry Potter DVD's for... and any other.

Seriously, the Extra Material is what should entice buyers, otherwise they can just Download it or watch it once in Cinemas.

And i'm a greight-train gone off track. Sorry.

Listening through the music from LotR.

And I'm extremely glad Howard Shore is making the score for "The Hobbit".

The first picture is from post-production back in late 2010/early 2011.

    Edit:

Ugh, took me over 30 minutes to buffer the video in HD, then I press fullscreen and my browser freeze, resulting in having to buffer over again >:(

That's just his scale double. As in when they're far out in the wilderness doing helicopter shots there's no point in bringing the actors for only to see their backs from a distance. Thus they dress up people with the same physical builds as the actors, which saves time and is much cheaper.

Jackson was thinner when they're filming for Part 2 at the VERY start of that video.

All the location running about did him some good.

You have no idea just how much is Greenscreened. All of Pelenor fields is virtual say for grass 5 meters ahead of the cam.

Same for all of the effect shots really.

pretty much all of mirkwood and trollshaw will be green screen. there is a lot of location shooting but there's probably just as much green screen / studio stuff

I'm pretty sure that's mostly because hes got a HUGE budget, shooting in real locations is much more
expansive than just shooting in a studio.

But with the bigger budget he could of made the movie even longer in all CGI but he chose real places instead.

..and if he didn't have such a big budget he would have used only studio shooting, so my point
here is that he uses real locations mostly because he can afford it, and not because of some sort
    of an artistic choice.

Somehow even the CGI in these movies looks better than almost anything else, I mean compare the Helm's Deep Battle in The Two Towers to the climactic battle in Attack of the Clones - the latter looks plastic and fake as hell, the former is utterly convincing. To say nothing of Gollum, still the most effective CGI character I've ever seen, despite the films being ten years old.

Well. The watcher's obvious CGI due to the bad water and the troll has some unlucky shading. The balrog is a master piece and the other two movies don't really have any give-aways say from low-res textures in the skies that the cam pans up to at the end of TTT. This is only visible on the Blu-Ray ed. though and i've only noticed it once.

Really. Those effects are good when considering ho butt-ugly other huge films were at the time.

Ya, the nightscene with the trolls was in the studio, but one of the set reports show the forest they used for the daytime scenes.

They had built a fake cave but Jackson didn't like it so they found a real one instead.
