:D if you'll have free time for travel, try to visit Russia, Saint-Petersburg city. There so much beautiful abandoned places, for example "Завод Красный Треугольник" (translit "Zavod Krasniy Treugolnik", english - "Red Triangle" factory) Nice place, here photos http://urban3p.com/object255/gallery/
and StPeter.. city is very beatiful city in Russia

    Looks really awesome.

Interesting how things like the helmets or gasm masks are still there and haven't been stolen or trashed.

It's interesting that there are still old relics just laying in their place within the shelter, no real efforts shown to remove what didn't have to be. (Examples being the old diesel generator (?) and gas-masks.)

Yes, this is amazing. Considering that half of the shelter is "moldy"

And you made me laugh! I thought they were pens too though; at first I thought they were needles, but I guess you were there so you would know.

My Russian History professor told our class last year that Petersburg is the nicest place in Russia; not as dirty as Moscow, lovely old buildings, but still large enough to have stuff going on.

I wish Ottawa had cool abandoned stuff like this :(

There is so much a person could salvage and sell, but I'm glad most of that stuff is still their.

I wouldn't be able to stop myself from stealing that USSR propaganda picture on the wall though.
    Lucky you..

I've seen a lot of posters here (shelf on the left)

All these things are not stolen, because the shelter is located 60 kilometers from St. Petersburg
in small town "Sosnoviy Bor" (rus. Сосновый бор)

Don't rule out a radiation leak.

Lets not ignore the fact that this "bomb shelter" looks more like its housing the bombs, not hiding from them.

Just think: Places like these are all over the place. There are even some in Houston, TX central downtown area, back during the russian/gulf scare. They still test the bomb sirens.

The reason I love Russia and and other countries the Soviet had control over, is that when the soviet left the bases, they basically just left everything they didn't really need behind, so things like gasmasks, helmets and whatever awesome stuff still lies in the bases. People doesn't even take care of it any longer, it's just abandoned.

Just go by the House of Commons in the Winter, the whole country knows it's abandoned for a good 2 months.
