I think I will just go for a Nh-d14 then, just a shame the window gets partially blocked.

Do without the GPU and get a h61 motherboard with a i3 2125 or 2105, if he needs a GPU later, he could upgrade to one without waste. I'd also get a PSU that's at least capable of running a 5770, maybe those cheap cooler master 430 watt PSU.
Building a new compy, should I just wait until the mid range 6 series nvidia cards and for the new intel chip sets?
Waiting is the best thing you can do right now.
Hey guys, my PCI-E Wireless Adapter is being really finicky after one of the antannae came off, so I "borrowed" my sister's D-Link Wireless Adapter (It's a surprisingly good one) and it's a USB one that comes with a single-slot USB Hub with cord.
Would I see any speed differences between plugging it directly into the computer and plugging it into the hub?
Alright cool. Any chance theyll be out in a month or so? Gotta have a new computer for Diablo 3 haha
For the Intel CPUs I believe so, not sure about the mid-range Nvidia cards though.
It's possible (but unlikely) for it to be bottlenecked by the HUB because all the bandwidth is shared between all the attached devices.
What exactly happens when you boot only with the old drive?
Perhaps, your boot records got mixed up, or something.
If so, you could probably repair the old HD by using the Windows 7 install disk (assuming you are using W7).
Start up using the Windows 7 DVD, pick "Repair your computer", then "Startup Repair".
Also, I'm pretty sure that an empty drive still should show up in Disk Management.
Well I can hope. Think the i7s will drop in price when the new CPUs come out?
I'd love to have a laptop as my own PC, until I move with my dad and then still use it as a laptop, so, I'd love a decent GPU, processor speed, and a good amount of USB Ports. Any thoughts?
Powerful laptops are heavy and have shitty battery life.
Also, even the most powerful laptop will get old fast.
I suggest you get a desktop and some cheap laptop.
Are there any negative effects caused by putting a 1200w PSU in a rig that only needs 800?
people on here will shit on you if they see a 1200W psu
People will whine, but that's it.
The PSU will run cooler and maybe more efficienty depending on the unit. There is no real downside. The System will only draw what it needs.
Can anyone direct me to the absolute cheapest USB controller out there? I'm simply looking for one to solder a tilt switch to one of the buttons and attach that to a crow bar like the one seen in that Valve tech video.
I'm planning to buy a Mini-ITX setup desktop, mainly for graphism stuff (Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel Painter, SAI, ...) with occasional gaming if possible (something that could run old games fine on 1920x1080 resolution like TF2, Killing Floor, L4D). My budget shouldn't go above 400€
Case: Lian Li PC-Q09F (with 150W power supply included)
Processor: Intel Pentium G620 or AMD A6 3500 APU (?)
Mobo: Zotac H61-ITX (for Intel setup) / Zotac A75-ITX (for AMD setup)
RAM: Kingston HyperX 8 Go (2x 4Go) DDR3 1600 MHz
SSD: Samsung Serie 830 (64 or 128 Go)
I don't know if AMD or Intel is better for this setup.
Do you guys have any suggestions?
What vid are you talking about?

Got this external Hard-Drive, but I was wandering, if I re-format it will it cease to be a Toshiba HD and just become a generic HD? And what is the proper process of formatting a HD to work on a MAC?
I only ask because it is in the wrong format to be used on a MAC and it belongs to someone else and it might bug them thinking I have done something wrong.
Define XL for $99.99 on newegg. I don't even have a computer yet, but is it a good enough deal to justify getting it now? Answer soon please, deals like this don't last forever.
In my opinion they are good, but there are cases with better air flow.
Already have a desktop, and I need a laptop because it will then be more private.
Oh, okay. What's your price range, and what do you need more: power or portability? You can get one of those Alienware laptops, but they kind of go against the entire point of a laptop.
What's the best program for recovering deleted files?
Piriform's Recuva works well. Be aware that deleted files are written over in no time. I remember I deleted a folder while messing around with a command line tool once and within 10 minutes a lot of the files were partially written over.
My range is 600$ and my objective is to play pc games while it not being incredibly hard to move.
Will the IdeaPad Z575 laptops drop the prices a bit after the ivy bridge ones come out? I've been thinking about getting this one if the price drops a bit, if it's any better than the amd one. Actually which of those two are better anyway? I'm pretty sure the intel one is a bit better, but then again it's $150 more.
Also, if anyone owns the intel one, does it look as purple as it looks in the pictures? I mean seriously, look at this girly thing.

The purple on it is more subtle, it just looks crazier cause of the white photography box its in.
Also fuck AMD until they release a new generation of CPUs that aren't terrible
I want to buy a portable hard drive and a mic (possibly as a headset). I know newegg is usually where people go to buy hardware in the US - what's the equivalent for the UK?

Want to sell some old stuff, is it a good asking price?
1x Core i7 920, C0, 2.66Ghz, stock cooler
3x 2Gb 1033Mhz DDR RAM
3x 1Gb 1033Mhz DDR RAM
1x Gigabyte EX58-UD5, 2x Gigabit LAN, 4x + 2x USB, Realtek HD Audio, 4x SATA + 2x SATA
1x Coolermaster Silent Pro, 620W
1x Club3D AMD Radeon 4870, 880Mhz, 1Gb
3x Samsung SpintPoint F1 320Gb single platter
Total 340 USD, 215 GBP or 260 EUR.
That's pretty cheap everything considered.
Does an independent sound card really make a difference in your music?
not for a casual listener. Dint bother unless you're employed in music production or have the speakers to back it up (you don't unless you've got studio monitors)
only slightly, but it does take the sound processing load off of your cpu so it helps performance a tiny bit.
Depends on the quality of the previous dac and the quality of the sound card's dac.
Only the really expensive ones.
And only if you have some SERIOUSLY badass equipment to go with it.
I have this really wierd problem with my gtx 570, when I overclock it just a single mhz it drops the fps in BF3 to like 5. As soon as I reset the clocks the lag stops. Using 296.10 drivers.
nvm fixed it
What's a good video card for around $150? I'm upgrading from a Radeon HD 5570.
