    Not that it's any news or anything that the mod will be huge, but I was still surprised when I read the numbers on the on gnosis the programmer page:

    Feast your eyes on over 2,000 custom models and 5,000 custom textures!

    Experience over 2,000 choreographed scenes and over 6,500 line of dialogue from all new voice acting!

    I know right? they've replaced nearly every Stock valve sound effect and texture. which a lot of mods don't do. heck a couple Source Games didn't either.

    I really can't tell whether you're serious or not...?

    But just for the hell of it, let me go ahead and explain that they only cut a couple of long empty sections of track and rearranged some of the areas so that they're more linear and don't loop back on themselves (which in my opinion takes all the fun out of that chapter but whatever.)

    Originally, they did cut one of the areas where the marines were in a stand off with vortigaunts but i'm pretty sure they've added that back in one of the more recent overview screenshots they put out for that chapter.

    I know right. How dare they spend 7 years of their free time doing a free remake from the ground up to one of our favorite fps games. Horrible people.

    They had a reason to cut it. No one stops you to make On a Rail better.

    I did kinda get lost in On A Rail, which was pretty frustrating, so I appreciate the streamlining. Of course, hardcore players aren't going to like the change.

    They could have just added signs or distinctive landmarks rather than actually take away from the level.

    People are comparing it to a maze but it really wasn't.

    Atleast after you made it to the first cargo lift after having to move that crane arm in the beginning.

    You know... a theory i've had about Ep3 / HL3...

    If we were going to go back to the site of Black Mesa for whatever reason, wouldn't it make sense for Valve to wait until this mod is finished and released, ask for permission, and then modify the levels for what they wanted?

    They're basically having Half-Life 1's levels being completely remade for them (damn good too)
    so it cuts the amount of work they'd have to do in half.

    Not to mention how far down the facility is underground and the fact that the warhead was detonated in a warehouse on the surface)
