If it's relatively cheap, I don't see why not. It's a nice camera, would be nice to protect it.
On another note, I have an old folding camera, and I'm really itching to use it. The problem is, it looks like it either had some fungus or the cement is coming apart; I don't know, but it covers a lot of the little lens. You guys think I should just go stick a roll in there and see what happens or wait and get it cleaned/repaired? (Forgot, the shutter sticks at 1/25th, and probably is slow at the slightly faster speeds. Not at 1/125th, the fastest speed, so far as I can tell.)

Well to get a further 2 year cover it's £150. Not sure how much insurance is though.

Defiantly do man, if you can afford that beast then you should have measures in place to protect it. If you have any luck with finding out about insurance for it, please do share!

Hmm but i think these extended shop warranties are a bit of a rip off like, the cameras have a long life span and parts are probably going to be cheaper than £150. If not, i can still afford to get it fixed. But it's dropping it and stuff which would be the main concern, which i just wouldn't do.
I think i have to have insurance linked to my household, which i don't have anyway.

Probably just the fact your camera's cache is small? not really sure about how large it is on the D5100, but on my D80 i can shoot 5 RAW photos before i have to wait for the images to be transferred. Gives me like 1.66 seconds of cont fire

turn to jpg and see how it performs
says here that you should be able to maintain a burst of raw photos in continuous for 16 straight frames, might be a defect in your camera
alternatively, check your menu options. For some reason I think I remember there being something for max continuous shots, but I don't have either my D5000 or 7000 to see if either have that

No it's alright, bopie got it straight up. Had auto bracketing on for some reason. With it off I can shoot in RAW format indefinitely

I just made my own fisheye!Anyone heard good things about opteka? Looking to buy a cheap fisheye lens.
Took a lens converter, used a hacksaw to chop it in half, used sticky tape to stick it on the front of my old 18-55 - voila!
Fisheye! It's fun to fuck around with, nothing special though.

so i just taught my neighbor how to use photoshop, and he let me borrow his fisheye converter for my nex and omg what do i take pictures of
the quality is nice as hell i just don't know what to take pictures of

Any specific brand of grips I should consider for my Canon 60d? Just has to function, as I am not paying $160 just for a canon brand.

Hear Meike is a good brand for camera grips. Not really sure though

I thought about getting a non branded one. But when i get round to it I'm going to get a canon one. I don't see the point of risking it IMO.

The Canon is magnesium alloy and matches the body perfectly both aesthetically and in weight/ergonomics.
I've heard horror stories about 3rd party grips bricking 5D2's, but I'm sure it's rare and rumor spread by fanboys.
It just depends on how much you're willing to spend, really. I thought it was a good investment and got the ~authentic~ one.

meike made the grip I use for my D7000, but it's actually a rebranded zeikos. Zeikos-specific stuff is very chunky looking, and kinda square in the hands-
(I can't find a picture of the actual button-side of this model but it's the common one. Have this for the D5000, it does its job)
but the one I bought as meike for my 7000 looks identical to the nikon-branded one, save for a joystick-style navigator instead of a D-pad, but I love the stick

dig around for reviews of grips on amazon, I'm sure people will mention
actually, looking at the grip for your camera, I don't think it has a second navigation pad at all

also I was wrong, my grip wasn't zeikos renamed to meike, it was meike renamed to neewer
only thing I can complain about is that the AE-L/AF-L button's lettering wore off since my thumb rests comfy on it, but I do not care at all. I know what it does.

Camera cleaning and repair, where can I get it done (doesn't matter if I need it shipped) and how much I am looking to throw down? Need to clean and fix some of the mechanicals of a Pentax K1000.

Repair specialists in your area or state should do the job. Price all depends on how big of a task it is to repair.
I'd like to look about cleaning my sensor. Not that I notice its dirty in photos (atleast I think so anyway) but its gonna cost £30 for an hour of cleaning. Do you guys clean or pay for your sensors to be cleaned often? My 35 1.8G seems to be pretty good, a nifty fifty in the full frame sense isn't as particularly wide as I expected but most of my photos have been shot around 30-40mm anyway. Just anxious to ask for family portraits.

i clean my own sensor
it was $20 for a pack of 20 sensor swabs, and they each give your sensor a good cleaning. a great investment, has worked absolute wonders for me without actually damaging my sensor (you can be pretty careless with them). the brand i use is opteka

Would you say you have steady hands? Mine aren't too bad, but I'd rather have someone else do it who knows what they are doing.

i don't really. but the whole process isn't too meticulate, it's like cleaning a lens but it's flat. just take a picture stopped down of the sky, and then the dust spots are flipped on the sensor. you just scrub it away, and go back and forth until it looks clean.

How much do you guys think i'd get in instore credit if I traded in my old Canon Powershot S5 IS and 430EX speedlight? The camera is in pretty decent shape, lens needs to be cleaned though, and the speedlight looks and performs almost as if it was brand new save for a bit of dust on it.

You'd probably be better off just going out with some friends and snapping some stuff.
That said, just take it easy and be like "hey come outside right quick I wanna try something with this lens." Keep it light and casual, the more you make it a 'thing' the more uncomfortable it is for everyone, including yourself.

Hey I'm doing a new college project and the unit is "what does extreme mean to you" I was just wondering what peoples thoughts on what it meant to them are?
