took a long time for people to realise
it was very subtle i guess haha
I would love one of those, infact I was going to buy one on ebay, Prakticas are just rather interesting.
Hey guys, here's the a little landing page for the photo community idea that I've been slowly working on for the last few months, it'd be great if you could leave your email address so that when I'm ready to launch you can find out straight away :) http://www.photokarma.cc/
Done. Goodluck with this!
I was hoping one of you could point me in the direction of a site where I could get decent quality free sounds. Specifically I'm looking for the sound of horse footsteps on concrete. I didn't get to record any of my own and my deadline is soon. One of these things that just slipped by.
thanks!
for sounds I acquired a copy of the "Sony Pictures Sound Effects Library" and that has served me well.
done :) hope this doesn't go tits up, seems like a great idea !
cheers! I've been working on it for a few months now as i said, and I reckon if an idea sticks around for that long there has to be some potential in it!
yeah man, i'll be behind it 100% :)
What I really need is someone that can help me design a logo, I have an aesthetic in mind (cheers bopie) but I have no graphic design skill.
im doing graphic art and design at A level? i could give it a shot? :)
sure, I'm talking to Dai at the moment about him doing it, but you're more than welcome to have a crack (if it's awesome I'll use it no worries, just no guarantees).
I'm currently thinking of an isometric view of some 70s/80s camera, with nice sharp lines. the color palette is black, white and #EEF3FD and anything in-between.
I can guarantee if you use Dai then his will be 100000x better than mine but hey-ho i'll give it a bash :)
Someone painted their Rebel white really shittily on r/photography and it's a really awful job and he's getting praise for it and it rustles the shit outta my jimmies.
Anyone have some tips or reads on framing/composing? That seems to be my weak point at the moment. (Well, uh, weakest.)
Also, what do you guys use for editing? I've been using the bundled "View NX" for like, cropping and straightening, but might as well learn some basic photo editing.
Ughh, so much rage when I saw that. I honestly don't understand why anyone would want to do that. Camera's are black for a reason, enjoy not being able to shoot reflective objects and looking like you're carrying around a knockoff Pentax.
I'm repainting my own SLR and guess what colour I'm doing it, Black of course, But its a rather plain camera so I'm changing the leatherette on it, but what idiot would paint a DSLR at all.
Also can I have a link to that.
I don't mind reddit, but r/photography is mainly a bunch of nerds looking for the coolest/most interesting at face-value stuff rather than anything actually artistic.
Call me a snob, but I can't stand that kinda stuff.
oh bopie you snob
Edited:
jk
Elaborate bopie, i've never been to r/photography, do you mean like they don't appreciate the technically artistic things like camera obscura, brenizer or old film processing techniques etc?
No, they'd love that kinda stuff and I do too, but that's all they recognize really, the technically artistic things. They generally don't appreciate finer ideas. It's more for people who think of photography as a whole, homogenous... I don't know, art? Versus it being a mere medium.

It's a like a show and tell of who can impress with the biggest 'wow factor' than anything else. Aurora's, Scuba diving, insects, animals, sunsets, etc.

The wallpapers that come with windows, vs stuff hanging in a contemporary gallery.
I'm just over my friends tonight and his grandad who passed away last year left behind probably over 1000 kodachromes dating back to 1960 i think, theres a suitcase full of them and some of them are really creative and good. I'll try and get some photos of some i find really interesting, I'm sure you guys would love to see them.
He was born in 1920.
Ahhh i see, so its more of a massive e-peen 'i can do the most stunning thing ever' instead of how our community is all about experimentation etc

A friend of mine says his dad who used to be a photographer has a box of gear somewhere in his attic that he doesn't even care about, scavenging time.
Today I found what seems to be the only decent camera store (read: only place i've ever seen that sells DSLR accesories and repairs cameras) in town today. I checked out some bags and tripods, gear I've been meaning to get.
They had this local-made toploader with like an inch of foam and a Lowepro bag that the guy recommended but I found sort of thin and more appropiate for a videocamera or something like that. Will probably get the toploader, I'm not planning on adding a lens to my collection anytime soon.
Does anyone have any opinion on Weifeng tripods?only thing I can afford atm.
Also oh shit the guy I met yesterday is so fucking good(er, compared to me and excuse the FB quality), I should ask him for tips next time we meet, or something.
Anyone willing to share their portfolio? I need some ideas of presenting my pictures and videos.
That has made me madder than any picture ever from the DAAS
Kai is best troll

This is probably what I'll be using after bootcamp, infra-red and shit, not really sure.
I was going to make a joke about it being tacticlol but this actually looks pretty nifty
You'll probably get droptackled if you carry it into an airport though
It does look 1337tacticool, but I won't argue with the army. And airport? it's not like I'll go to a vacation during my serving time :p
hi i'm photographically degenerative, can someone explain the difference between f-stop and aperture?
they are used to described the same thing
also has anyone here done any international shipping on ebay? someone just bought my minolta 50mm 1.4 (for $60, got it for $11 :D) and they live in Thailand, USPS ships there, does it use the same printing shipping thing, and do i have to pack the box better because it's going so far?

Our company details can be found on our website in the terms and conditions page located at the bottom of the screen. Our company registration number is 07391274.
With all due respect we are quite a new organisation. We registered as a private limited company in 2010 although listed accounts as dormant as at that time we was not quite ready to go live and take sales. Instead we dedicated time into building up the company, website, marketing material, contacts, etc. This will be amended accordingly once live accounts are submitted accordingly.
Although we would love to meet each individual we deem suitable to come on board, given the vast nature of the recruiting campaign, (as we are expanding into the regions) to have face to face meetings with individuals from all over the UK would be costly and time consuming. This is truly a logistical nightmare, thus the need for our photographer details form to be so in-depth.
Given the fact that you will be dealing with our clients directly, either at a confirmed venue, in a studio or within the confides of the customers home. In the interest of customer personal safety, we provide all our customers with the reassurance that we can authenticate and vouch for all photographers that carryout work for and on behalf of Moments 4 Life.
As I am sure you can appreciate, it would not be best practice in deploying individuals of whom we can not validate.

moments 4 life? Good luck with your business venture, I guess. Our apologies if you felt offended by jaanus's accusation, but looking at the facts presented I don't think anyone can blame him, even now.
The facebook still has only 10 likes, but doesn't seem to be stock images now, but everything still feels like it's mixed with high quality stock and strangely generic quality photos. also the copyright watermark on this celebrity pic-
led me to this guy
I'm not even gonna keep digging into this
You know how if you scan C-41 black and white film as colour, it comes out with weird tints to it? Well, I really liked how the tint looked and today I got bored and wrote a program that generates a look-up-table from images like that, to apply them to actual monochrome ones, because I didn't really like what I attempted in photoshop with that.
Example:
input image to generate table
monochrome image
output
Worked kind of alright, just need to figure out why the output gets so much darker :x
Edited:
oh hey, fixed it
