It looks like it could stop a lot of of blob warfare and alpha fleets, depending on how it works, like if it breaks the lock of one person when they're networked so to speak, or if the more expansive the network then the higher chance to break incoming locks.
Still should be pretty cool, the new modules seem really off kilter, should be pretty sweet when they show up.

I rolled a Gallente, but I'm flying a Maller medlaser boat, as per the setup suggested a few days ago. It's good and all, but should I get the Amarr pack from the anniversary gift or Gallente? My skills are more or less in range to effectively use either, but better on the Amarr side.

Get the +4 implant one and sell it. Then buy the stuff from the other pack.

I'd go for the Amarr one. It will familiarize you with energy neuts earlier on, and at first they're easier to learn to fly in pvp than Gallente ships.

Do the various Empire chat channels still exist? I remember joining the Amarr one when I started playing, not having any prior knowledge of it being a nest of weird roleplayers.
The conversation went something like this.
Me: Hi.
Roleplayer 1: gallente crackhead
Roleplayer 2: I AM A PRIEST THAT CAME THROUGH THE EVE GATE AND IM A CYBORG
Roleplayer 1: gallente crackhead fck u

About a day ago I was running a mission in my Golem. About 30 seconds into it, EVE pretty much died. Any modules I tried to stop from cycling just kept on cycling, ships were hitting me but no damage was being done, and my torps kept firing at my last target but no inflicted damage notifications were popping up. All telltale signs that I had lost connection to the server. EVE usually does this anyhow, so I just closed my client and restarted it.
When I logged in, the entire physical environment of space did not load. The UI didn't even load. All I saw was a pitch black screen. I could see my cursor, but that was it. I couldn't right click to view any context menus, I couldn't see any chat windows. The entire screen was just black. However, I was able to see incurred hit notifications, so I knew that my Golem was still in action and taking fire. I let my client idle there for a few moments, thinking that maybe whatever was happening would subside and I could hop back into the action.
That was not the case. I closed my client, and when I logged in once more, I was sitting in my pod.
My only assumption is that in the period between my client giving me nothing but a black screen and my logging out, my Golem was blown to smithereens. I checked the game logs and discovered I had plenty of time to warp out before I decided to close my client in an attempt to fix this bug I was experiencing. (And I obviously couldn't have warped out because I couldn't even see anything or issue any commands to my ship.)
I sent a petition for reimbursement. I know that CCP generally doesn't reimburse ships due to client-side errors, but I'm hoping that I'll get it back because frankly this is just bullshit.

Look on the forums for people with similar issues, and try and bandwagon on their threads for backup. CCP may actually look into it if a bunch of other people report a similar experience.

Actually now that I think about it this'll make logistics even more balls-breakingly overpowered in small-gang pvp.

I'm so used to having absurdly long skills training that I just do whatever it is I was doing before I set it to train.
In other news, I feel like a high roller, finally.
Got more than enough ISK to fund myself for ages; brand new faction apoc and I'm co-running a corp with my buddy (sure its just us at the minute, but its the feeling bros, the feeling).

Also if I may say that a Stealth Bomber is amazing for ratting. Getting 600 DPS from a frigate is crazy...
