Q. Who the fuck are they.
A. as defined by wikipedia, Gorillaz are an English musical and visual project created in 1998 by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. The project consists of Gorillaz music itself and an extensive fictional universe depicting a "virtual band" of cartoon characters. This band has four animated members: 2D (lead vocalist, keyboard, and melodica), Murdoc Niccals (bass guitar and drum machine), Noodle (guitar, keyboard, and occasional vocals) and Russel Hobbs (drums and percussion).
Q. are they alter egos of someone?
A. Actually, they are purely fictional, although Damon Albarn says 2D is based off a bit from him,
Q. How do they perform live? They be cartoon characters, yo

They either use Musion Eyeliner (it does a peppers ghost effect) to project the band members on stage

Wasn't a massive fan of plastic beach to be honest, but it did have a few good songs on there such as On Melancholy Hill

Favorite band of all time.
BTW I asked ChaCha a while ago if Gorillaz was working on another album yet because I was bored. They responded with "Actually Yes! Although there is no news about what all star rappers will be on the album, Damon and Jamie have confirmed that another album is in the works."

First album I ever bought was the first Gorillaz album. Always remember this being in the artwork inside the cover.

Oh my God if it's true that they're making another album then I'm a lot happier. Didn't Albarn say that they would never achieve 2010's musical success/accomplishments again?

Jamie helped design a few Converse shoes to go along with Gorillaz upcoming collaboration, and god, do I want the high-top Pazusus.
For those not in the know, Converse pairs up three artists (I think Matt & Kim, Andrew W.K., and Soulja Boy were the last match up) to record a brand new track. The release date is sometime in February.
Let's hope the new song is a good one!

The last half of it is almost totally useless, besides Dare. Plastic Beach has way more classic songs.

The thing I've seen with plastic beach is either you love it, or you hate it.

I think the thing with Plastic Beach is it's probably the most rap oriented album by the Gorillaz so it might detract some fans who aren't major rap fans. I know that I myself didn't like it much until I warmed up to rap and usually people who like rap also like it.

One of the best bands out there. I was a huge fan of Blur, but I'm glad this side project was sooo different. The animations is the best part to me.

Yeah I KIND of like rap, not that much, just enough to bare the rhymes and such, but when it's mixed with Gorillaz? Oh God I love it, White Flag is amazing.

Demon Days and Plastic Beach are both incredible. I find it hard to compare the two though. Their styles are so vastly different.

What genre would you say Gorillaz is? iTunes says that Demon Days is Indie Rock, G Sides is Alternative, and Plastic Beach is Pop.
I personally have no idea, because their songs are so widely varied.

Also just bought Demon Days last month and it is excellent. I used to only know Gorillaz for 19-2000 Soul Child Remix (a friend in middle school showed me the music video) but I'd heard good things. I like how you can just play the whole album straight through nonstop and it provides really good music to just play in the background as you do stuff.

This one grew on me, didn't like it the first time but it definitely warmed on me.
Melancholy hill is fucking awesome by the way.
Gorillaz is just major chill out music. After a rough day it's fun to just lie back, and listen to them. Maybe read a book, play some pokemon or just lie back and listen :D
