[Over-Run]

Hey guys. So I just finished building my first PC and I'm just doing the usual testing to make sure everything is running fine.
I have no idea what temperatures the components should be running at under various levels of strain. I'm running SpeedFan at the moment and right now just browsing the internet everything has a blue arrow pointing down. I tried BF3 earlier on and some of the things had a flame beside them. I don't know if that's normal as of course BF3 would put strain on the system.
I'll post a picture below of the system. If you guys could just let me know what sort of temperatures I should be getting and expecting and If I should worry.

I just ran Skyrim and the graphics card has gone to 50-54 and the symbol is a flame now. So I don't know if that is bad or not?

Those temps, if correct, are actually pretty good. You have nothing to worry about.

Graphics cards generally get hotter than CPUs. If the GPU starts to hit mid-high 60s then it's probably getting a little too hot.

This are idle temps and dont tell us alot.

Dowload Furmark to stress your GPU and Prime 95 for the CPU.


Or you can download HW monitor and leave that on while playing bf3. Hw monitor saves the highest recorded temperature so play for half an hour screenshot it and post it here.

Those temperatures aren't bad at all.

It has a flame when it gets a little hot, but 60c is nothing dangerous.

Ok this is normal for the crappy stock CPU cooler of an i5 and for the crappy stock cooler for the GPU.

I wouldnt worry about the GPU temp its fine, but if you want your cpu temp down either buy a cheap aftermarket cooler. (Evo 212 or something) or improve caseflow with case fans.

RMA the GPU.

Those temps are fine, but just run HWMonitor, it will record the max temp.

I think the max of the GPU was like 76

My friend sometimes has his GPU at 100+ C. Well, he has an old card, HD3850, but it is still running too damn hot.

What case and fans are you running? You might get a decent improvement if you promote good airflow in the case. A front intake, a rear exhaust, and some decent cable management could make a decent improvement.

I have a Fractal Design R3, the case is pretty spacious and the cables don't seem to be too bad in it. It also has two fans, one at the top near the CPU and one at the bottom more towards the GPU and RAM.

Anybody know what is up with BF3 from the above video?

Likely a hardware problem that needs and RMA to fix but it could be drivers too

What's RMA? I heard it's a driver issue that Nvidia are looking into and it affects 540's and 560 cards

known issue with some nvidia cards, use the beta drivers

RMA is basically sending it back for a new one.

Do I really need to send it back? That graphical issue is only in BF3 and from what I'm hearing the issue is a driver side thing? Like Skyrim runs perfectly fine? Or should I be doing an RMA because of the temperature?

My card gets to 60ish and it's fine (haven't tested BF3 as I don't own it)

It's likely a driver issue
