Speaking of which, I just completed the darn thing. Got "one bullet behind the bathroom mirror"-ending (hoping that's cryptic enough). Overall I really enjoyed the experience. I could complain about the sex scenes, but calling the game out on having decidedly fetishized/fap-tastic/un-story ero scenes seems so hilariously pointless considering it's probably the least offensive out of all the ungodly shit this VN features

I enjoyed the writing and the mood anyway. I came in expecting a Lovecraftian-esque gory mystery/horror story and that's exactly what I got.

And yeah, anyone somewhat familiar with the Internet will probably have seen worse than Saya no Uta.

You're gonna be hard pressed to find short VNs as they're a large minority. Katawa Shoujo is shorter than your normal Japanese, commercial VN I guess.
