It's serial, 8N1 = 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit.
You could host a decent database/webserver with them I suppose, depending on your internet connection.
I set up a null modem cable between two computers. Popped open minicom on one, HyperTerminal on the other, and eventually got it working as a basic, primitive chat system.
Hardly the most exciting thing, I know, but it was interesting to get such old technology working.
And I do mean primitive: this is 70's-era technology. 38400 bits per second, 8 bits data/no parity/1 stop bit. That comes out to about 4 KB/s.
Now granted, it was completely pointless. I mean, if I wanted data transferred, I grab an Ethernet crossover cable and hope Fedora comes with the proper drivers for the gigabit ethernet card. It was mostly to fuck around with ancient technology.

Have a look in your Event Log for events from source "Power-Troubleshooter", it'll tell you what the wake source is - quite often it's Wake on LAN or similar.

These are the cabinets we had them in. Unfortunately I didn't get a good look. We have two fenced off sections of our datacenter and they were stacked. The ones on the right. We had about two cabinets of them.
So they can't do any decent rendering or anything?

It really depends on what they are.
If they're just NAS units (what I showed), they're only good for storing data. Admittedly, they'll scale into the petabyte range, but they can't do anything with the data.
If they're actual servers, they might have some better use. At the very least, they'd be able to run (certain) game servers well. Or make for really good web servers (or other "boring" stuff). If Minecraft didn't have x86 dependencies, I'd say that - you could easily run multiple servers on a single T4 processor.
Rendering though... probably not, especially if they're old ones.

Can someone explain the draw of 2.5" SAS drives? These bitches are like 150GB and cost something like 900 dollars and we're constantly replacing them in our data center.

Drives identified by WWN, not port, pop out drive, pop in somewhere else, still same identifier, server goes down, migrate discs to another server in no time.

Error-recovery uses SCSI stuff instead of ATA SMART, more functionality.

Also, aren't they usually 10K or 15K RPM drives instead of 7200?

Yum. Enterprise grade 2.5" drives are epic. Smaller platter = faster access times, problem is largest capacity you can get is 1TB in 2.5" 7,200RPM sata or SAS. I believe you can get 900GB in 2.5" 10K, which are around 400-600 a pop. I believe you can also get 300GB in 2.5" 15K. But honestly, if you care about random access, 10K 2.5" 900GB will be more than fast enough, and gives you a decent performance/GB. Some new 3.5" drives are now also using 2.5" platters, but in a 3.5" drive format.
Like you know, the velociraptors, they use a 2.5" drive, but are loaded in a 3.5" heatsink.
Also Server manufactors like Dell, HP, IBM etc usually uses drives from the likes of Seagate or Hitachi for enterprise. The reason they are alot more expensive than the usual OEMS, are because of custom firmware, and HP uses Dual port SAS for higher I/O throughput. SAS also has better ECC, and various RAS features.
Yet another feature in Chrome that exists, and I had no idea it did.

No I don't. I work for a private company, but given the fact that I compete with some known people on here, I want to stay private. Wingless knows what I do though :).
Some of my servers are in WebNX, they are rentals yes, I got such a great deal it was hard to pass on. Once SB-E releases, we'll be building servers on that platform forsure.
PS: I plan on leaving my current company soon and working by myself, also wingless, once I get my grant, I'm flying you to California to work on some awesome stuff with me.

That I didn't really care about, a simply rdns on my IP blocks will show that they are from WebNX. I believe we have 2 /28's and 2 /27's. from them currently.

The servers are hosted remotely ( Can't risk dun-goofing and paying for remote hands, it's expensive ), plus, I needed to get most of these machines up within a short period of time, and since 2.6.18 worked fine for what we're doing, no point in fixing something that aint broken. For my own in-house built machines, they will be running custom compiled kernals for sure :)

Dude, this reminds me. There was this one guy on youtube, he made it like EXTREMELY important to say that his computer costed 5 grand.... It was i7 2600k in a case labs case, with only the CPU watercooled by a XSPC watercooling kit. He was 17, a redneck, and retardly cocky.
